New song called Brothers and Sisters.

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs/brothers-and-sisters

I used the tracks below and then created a very specific James Taylor picking style user track to blend in with it to get an exact lock on the pocket. Then I used some of that free and new fangled dynamic range software they been talking about on the mixing forum. Dang, y'all, them green and red meters know what they're talking about!!!

Hello 1970!!!!! Ha ha ha !!! Man, you made my year! That is exactly what I was going for!! 1970!

Yeah man!!! Take me back there Jesus please!! It's all I ask for! And, well maybe front row seats at Woodstock, but that's it, and well, maybe some time with Paul and John in Abbey Road, but that's it! And well, maybe I could write song with James and Carly but that's all! Is that too much to ask????

Wow, I love this!! Lyrics are somewhat cryptic but very thought-provoking. You did a mean JT on that axe! And I love the pad being a little loud-just works for this song. Great job with the vocal-heartfelt and natural. You're on a roll David!! Take care. Greg

Hi David,

It sounds to be more guitars in there than the ‘Gypsy Kings I really liked that.
I loved the chord structure, I would have liked your voice to have been slightly more prominent, there is a good message there in the lyrics, very Dylan like, as well as your singing style. This is what you do well, keep at it.

Another very nice one David!
I'm interested in the usertrack you created. Would you mind sharing it?

Thanks Paddy! Sure, before I release this on an album I need to get vocals out front more for sure on the bridge. All this mixing and mastering stuff is tricky man. It's a fine balance!

Thanks for the comment!!

Hey guys,

Thanks! Here is a link to my BIAB user folder. I did a special version of this user track just for you a few minutes ago so it would work right in all contexts. The "riff" you hear is D// G/D// A/D /// etc.

if you use the straight chords you get straight, if you use "over D" you the riff.

Also, there is a slight glitch at the end when the last notes are fading but it is not coming from my track, it is coming from somewhere else. I am sure you can find it and kill it if you use other instruments from this style as a whole. Let me know how it works for you.

Have fun. See post below for drop box link. The one you want is DSNYDER_JT4. You should not need any Eq-ing on this track, it is compressed and normalized and clean as a whistle. Just a good old Taylor.

*******

Ok, you guys check these out and tell me if this link works. You should be able to download to your computer without a drop box account.

I am playing several styles of guitar, fingerpicking, including a Ramirez classical, in a soft accompaniment style meant to add flavor to tracks and not be the standout item, especially suited for adding some spice to ballads. They are the same styles I use on some of my own softer tunes. The JT style refers to James Taylor and I am playing some of the mutated type chords he is famous for which you can see in the chart. The charts basically move through all of the common chords you would use in a pop song, plus those James Taylor-ish chords. I hope this is useful. Let me know how it works for you guys. They seem to hold up well to transposition, though you would have to add some gain change and an EQing device like the IK Multimedia Classic EQ (acoustic guitar setting) but I use these VSTS on all acoustic RTs anyway.

Well, just an experiment. Let me know. Here is the link again:

"I heard a song about fire and rain
Don’t think I’ve ever been the same"

As Kris Kristofferson once said.. "You've been reading my mail..."
Those two lines could be an epigraph to my life - and so many others, I imagine.

Good job of capturing the sound.
As always, your vocals have "a lot of life".
(Though, here, they need to be brought up some to "ride the mix").

Another good'un, David...

Very cool song, David. Like Floyd said, bring up your voice. The backing track has tons of energy. Very catchy--I bet I will be hearing it in my head for the next day or so.

Hello, David

The electric guitar sounds remind me The Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Turn! Turn! Turn!".
This song makes me feel 60s and 70s Folk Rock flavor a little bit.
Very enjoyable listen.

Best Regards.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
