The paint's not nearly dry on this one but I was excited to post this first version. Thanks for listening and commenting, Kenny

Hi Kenny,
I like the sparse and very clean mix.. and the finger picked guitar real track was perfect for the song!
Your lyrics do a good job of expressing a sentiment that everybody should be able to identify with. IMO, that's a highly desirable trait for any song!
It is also very easy to listen to... a well executed project across the board!

Nice, Kenny.
Really cool chords to this - like a mixed bag between JT and Paul Simon - in a way that comes out completely original... Really nice movement in the melody.
Nice harmonies!
Nice bridge! I like how it leads right back to the chorus/tag...
Everyone needs a "hometown song". This is a good one.
Enjoyed several listens.

Kenny, very intriguing chord progression. Nice melody and well written and arranged. Good subject. It's amazing to think back about how many people pass through our lives. Lovers friends etc. Great vocals on this. A really good listen. Tom

Kenny,
I like this one as it is. It feels honest. I am not sure I would mess with it too much. I think you got it right the first time. Good song man.

Hi Kenny,
Again, this sounds very much like James Taylor. Very cool! Definitely a way of using the RTs so that it sounds like a genuine unplugged session. That's very rare here on the forum.

Kenny,
Great song and good vocals. I really like the way it's presented here - not sure I would change anything on this. The arrangement really drives the message home.

Thanks Pat, Good description of evrything, of course if I sat down with the intention of writing something that everyone would be able to identify with I'd probably fail miserably. I always appreciate your comments and kind words.

fj Thanks fj, I think the very first song that I wrote years ago I was imitating JT and I felt the presense of another influence on this one and couldn't place it. I believe you're right, it's Paul Simon, tho maybe not nearly as detailed or as good as he gets but still...This song just fell into my lap, blame it on an old friend's Facebook posting, followed by several dreams that I had where I was much younger and back in the red clay hills of Georgia again. If you want a challenge, try recording with no drums and fingerpicking guitars, even tho I had a click track on to sing with it was still kinda slippery. I think I really lean on that drummer for my timing and place in the song.

There is no better compliment than praising melody I think. Thanks for that. Kenny

Hi Kenny
You have a nice timbre to your voice. This is very well put together, nicely mixed and I enjoyed listening!
The only thing that I'd tweak is to back off the reverb a tad on the vocals. Reverb always adds that certain 'something' but I think in this case the lyric needs to feel more intimate/closer to the listener, and reverb moves it away. (Just my personal taste!)
John

Kenny that is a fine heartfelt hometown song. I've tried to write them but mine come out more like Steve Earle's "Won't Nothing Will Bring You Down Like Your home Town" You managed to bring in the sadness of going back only in your dreams AND the upbeat aspects of it being a good town. That's a great balance. The production well supports the lyric feel and your vocal. Nice one!! J&B

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
