Also a very nice compilation of the pictures (love the water painting like picture of Martin Luther King).

Thanks Rob! It was a lot of fun to make. There are some great images on google to play with. Appreciate the kind words! Take care. Greg

Wonderful production and heartfelt vocal performance!

Well crafted lyrics and I think that is takes courage to wade in the political waters of song writing.

I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks so much Atze! MLK was a very inspiring figure. Just as with music (other than this forum), they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Really enjoying your presence on the forum! Take care. Greg

Wow,Greg.. this is awesome! And since it's actually a combination of several different artistic endeavors, I'll deal with each of them separately!

1) The Video
Yeah, I always prefer songs that come packaged with a video... and I thought you did a particularly good job of finding powerful images to reinforce the equally powerful statements in your lyrics. I notice you used fades between the pictures. It's hard to go wrong with fades, because they make everything look "right" ... but in the case of music videos especially there is an added advantage to changing scenes abruptly without fades... but only if its done right on the beat. (It has the effect of being a visual floor tom, if you catch my drift.)

2) The Lyrics
I think you are a great lyric writer in general, and especially in this case, you did justice to the enormity of the topic. That is no small achievement! I could easily quote the whole song as examples of outstanding lyric writing, but.. they're all great! I often try to analyze what makes lyrics interesting. Sometimes its the ability to create verbal imagery... but I think your special gift is the ability to "coin a phrase" and say common things in a new way that shines a light on some previously obscure aspect of the topic. This song is full of that, and I cite the verse that contains your title as an example.

3) The Music
You always do such a tasteful job of selecting chords, instruments and effects that build exactly the right mood for your topic, and this is no exception. Its an instantly likable sound canvas for your story to be painted on

4) Your singing
Again, this is one of your strengths... unlike me, you can actually sing, and that opens up a wider set of melodic options for you. Especially in a song like this, where there is likely potential for opposition to the ideas you are setting forth, the calmness of your vocal presentation takes on an authority of its own, and the vocals rise above the mere task of portraying a melody. Very impressive.

5) The mix
What can I say... your mixes are always clear and "right" in every way.

When we play our songs for others, they typically hear "a song" ... but in most cases "the song" is actually the combined result of several skill sets, any one of which can sink the ship if you don't get it right. That's what really impresses me about you and the other "heavy hitters" on the forum, because you have a long track record of wearing ALL the hats well.

Greg - this is SUCH a strong write. Not a wasted syllable. Not a syllable out of place. Songwriting as craft and art.

It doesn't stop there. Each of the verses is just as strong. And tied together by a simple, yet power repeat chorus. Outstanding songwriting.

Your melodies SING. That is such an overlooked aspect of songwriting. Beautiful.

The instrumentation/production is so well done that I didn't "notice" it as I listened - the perfect foundation for this powerful message.

Sung to perfection.

Top drawer.

floyd

Thanks Floyd. It's hard to express just how good such a nice review makes me feel. Thanks for all your help and support. Take care. Greg

As floyd has already mentioned, this is a very strong write.... solid gold songwriting penmanship! And a message that can never be delivered too often.

All the best,
Noel

THanks very much Noel! Sadly, it seems that this message is being obscured by a small number of haters on both sides with the help of politicians and media. Really enjoyed your new one! Take care. Greg

Gorgeous! Greg, I completely agree with all the praises...very nice work! -Eric

Edit: forgot to mention, re: the Sneetches/Seuss reference, that story popped up in my mind recently in a discussion about immigration. I kept it to myself, but almost used it to illustrate my point. Actually, I often think of that story, so I appreciate the reference.

What a line! One of the things I like the most is that is a message song that doesn't feel preachy. It's more of a common sense approach. Superb piece of art. Tom

Thanks for the extremely kind words Tom. It's sad how current events have brought the topic of this song back into focus. It shouldn't be so hard for people to "just get along". Thanks for the constant encouragement and support! Take care. Greg

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
