I have far too many samples for my own good gained from sample CDs, downloads, samples from all the EJAYs and many from ACID, all from a period around 1997-2000 when I was involved with a small multimedia company. Last week I set up 100 bars in A to play with them in BIAB, 112 tempo by an accident of me not paying attention, and lost track of time. Computer time goes so much quicker than normal time doesn't. I am glad have a timer on my screen to turn off at 4 hours to force me back to reality. I cancelled this too often tho'
So I was just messin' seeing what I could do with loops in BIAB and started with the Blues Rock Real Drum. So, many long days later of adding to and then extracting from the loop folder I had an idea.
The 1st verse suddenly appeared and BAM it went down hill from there grin (It would be nice to be able to point to my loops folder so that rigmarole doesn't exist!)
It took my mind of the mess I call my life.

Blow that horn,Blue!

Mary had a little lamb full of fun and frolics
she threw him up in the air and caught him by his tail

Jack and Jill went uo a hill to fetch a pale of water
Jill came down with half a crown but not for fetching water

humpty dumpty sat on a wall
humpty dumpty had a great fall
all the kings horses and all the kings men had a very nice omelette, thank you Humpty

Mary had a little lamb and a little duck
she put them on the mantel piece to see if they would fall off

little miss muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey
it wasn't the spider that sat done beside her
but little boy blue with his horn
blow that horn blue

2 bars of a BIAB bass and eventually made into a loop with a bass sample I forget which style, I played with so many

Alyn, Little boy just blew me away. Let's take a look at all the things that are "wrong" here. Basically just one chord, lyrics that don't rhyme , long, long intro, half sung half spoken word, some off color coloring if you will, a kind of telephone effect on the vocal. Take all that and throw it in the Gibsonator along with some great synth playing and a dash of Monty Python and other barely contained insanity and you have a modern adult nursery rhyme. And above all else it is utterly and completely RIGHT. Hats off, Tom

HA! The "Gibsonator!!" That's priceless! And pretty dang accurate too!

It took me a couple of listens through to realize that the places where it doesn't rhyme, COULD rhyme if only I'd substitute another word that was judiciously left out... (very clever you ol' DAWG you!)

Let's see.. what rhymes with "frolics?" ;-) Or "duck?"

Alyn... you always amaze me. The stuff you come up with, in anybody else's project, could easily fall flat on its face. But YOU make it entertaining almost beyond belief! You really have a magical touch that turns chaos into applause!

This made me think of Peter Gabriel, by the way. (One of my favorites. )

Wow, this is hilarious! For some reason I kept thinking of the Two Ronnies from English tv;( maybe its those those risky unrhymes) but with way better music... thanks for giving me the best laugh of the day!

Hi Alyn.

Great to see your name up on the list again!

I don't suppose anyone outside the UK, or anyone too young for that matter, will have heard of Frankie Howard, but maybe you remember "Up Pompeii" and the poetry of Nausius and all those suggested rhymes.

This is a fabulous piece of.... stuck for words here! That is to say, it's brilliant and it made me laugh.

Keep posting my old pal.

ROG.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alyn, this is SO well done! A LaughOutLoud write. Awesome production. Terrific mix.

GREAT use of loops... everything fits together so well. Seamless.

Your vocals on these (type things) are perfect!

Entertaining. First note to last.

Spectacular!

We aren't being lazy. Tom just said it too well to add much other than welcome back and keep that Gibsonator percolatin'!!

Like fj said seamless and entertaining from the intro through the outro.

Wow!

Welcome back Alyn!! Been missing you around here. Very cool track!! I love the driving music and dark-edged lyrics. You have such a creative and unique way of creating, and the tracks never sound generic. Love the change at the end-very unusual. This is a real treat!! Welcome back and stick around! Take care. Thanks you Pat, coming from an imaginative person as yourself that is praise indeed.

Aah Peter Gabriel, my favourite also, solo and with Genesis

I have no idea why I like this song smile It's very hypnotizing soul with very creative use of BIAB and samples. Really worth the time you spent on the computer I would say smile

Yes! It is good to have you back!
I sure know EJay, I had all their releases a couple of years ago ( but sold them for way too little money, in retrospective).

Again this song shows your unique talent, innovative as only you can be!
Please feel free to post some more ;-)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
