Lonesome Feeling

Here is one we wrote while ago. I was asking for some feedback from Floyd who suggested I go with my guide vocal, so here for what it's worth and with some trepidation is my first lead vocal posted here.

I do have a nice version with Leon singing - (I think we'll just keep this one to ourselves.....)

Leon wrote the lyrics I played the guitar solos and sang.

RealTracks in style: ~1123:Bass, Acoustic, CountryWaltz Sw 140
RealTracks in style: ~1702:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CountryWaltz Sw 140
RealTracks in style: ~825:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Country Waltz Sw 140
RealTracks in style: 2544:Pedal Steel, Background ModernWaltz Sw 140
RealDrums in style: NashClassicWaltzSw^2-a:SideStick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

Lonesome Feeling

I got drunk & stoned again last night
Even smoked a cigarette or two
I have these days I just can’t help myself
I do the things I shouldn’t ought’a do

I looked up at the stars as I was walking through Bondi
Felt the cold night wind upon my face
A little melancholy, but nowhere near despondent
Gazing up there into outer space

Tableau's in the windows lit by golden light
They sure look cozy I agree
But I have no desire, to be behind those windows
Out here I have everything I need

Chorus
I wouldn’t stop this lonesome feeling
For riches or security
I wouldn’t stop this lonesome feeling
For anything that you could offer me

I love that sweet sad country music
I love to hear that steel guitar
I love to listen to the wind up in the trees
But sometimes girl I wonder where you are

Chorus
I wouldn’t stop this lonesome feeling
For riches or security
I wouldn’t stop this lonesome feeling
For anything that you could offer me

Peter, I have to say that I was thinking that you your vocal would be less than good since you you have never posted one. Boy was I wrong! The vocal sounds terrific. I know this won't be the last we hear of that engaging voice. Nice country waltz. Well put together and I enjoyed the guitar playing. Well done! Tom

Hi Peter,

nice waltz. Great guitar.
I wonder why you don't sing more often. I'm positively
surprised.

Janice said she heard some Leon, some Lou Reed and that you sounded southern (US) and would make a good bluegrass singer smile That is all very good! And, she just said "he needs to sing more." She particularly liked the way you sang "Tableau's in the windows lit by golden light."

And as Tom said "Nice country waltz. Well put together and I enjoyed the guitar playing." Yup, the guitar work sounded extra special on this one.

And not that we'd expect less...but another great lyric from Leon.

Well done and a goodie for our SC playlist!

Peter,
A very good song; you have a good voice with a relaxed, world-weary delivery that`s a great fit for the lyrics (I was thinking it could come forward a little in the mix).
Super guitar playing.

Well Peter,

There's definitely no reason to not sing your songs yourself ;-)
Or sing a backing vocal to Leon's voice or vice versa.
You could use a little bit more reverb on the vocal, by the way.
Great guitar work!

Peter,
I thought your vocal was a perfect fit for this song. You have a sort of Greg Allman tone.
Great country rock vibe with a terrific arrangement.

Hi Peter.

I'm with those who said you need to keep on singing - I love the smooth sound of your voice and the performance is excellent.

Nice arrangement and choice of instruments. A very engaging song and a very professional package all round.

Janice & Bud
Thanks for all the nice comments and encouragement.
"Tableau's in the windows lit by golden light" is probably my favourite line in the lyrics.

Hello, Peter

Though I have listened to your guitar on Janice & Bud's song, I listened your vocal for the first time.
As Josie said, I also thought your vocal was a perfect fit for this song.
Maybe you love country songs very much.

Best Regards.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
