Lyric Video: Audio Only: Average MojoJanice and I have long wanted to do a “swamp blues” style song. Tony Joe White pretty much owns the genre and is still recording amazingly good stuff nearly 50 years after his first big song. His style is characterized by southern US swampy imagery, minimalist instrumentation, simple chord structures and lots of fuzzy guitar. John Fogerty and others have borrowed heavily from him. I attempted to write a song in this style and asked PeterF if he’d be willing to join in with his guitar. He agreed and offered up some cool guitar and harmonica tracks that were right in the genre pocket. The project was quite a vocal departure for Janice vocally and even more so after I went with more “grit” in processing her vocal. Perhaps an obscure genre but we did have a lot fun producing it. And, yes, there is a lot of distortion, tube sims, saturated tape sims, vintage compression sims and a hot mix. Goes with the style! Janice agreed to me using a photo of her in the intro/outro page of the video. That is a first! Oh BTW, a "gris gris" is a good luck amulet. Vocal: Janice - processed with Izotope’s Nectar 2 Drums: RD - Blues Rock Even - processed with Izotope’s Alloy 2 Bass: RT - 572 Bass Blues Even - processed with Izotope’s Alloy 2 Rhythm Guitar/Solo Guitar/Harmonica: Peter - processed with whatever he does I put a hint of overdrive amp sim on the harmonica. Mixed in Logic Pro X and mastered with Izotope’s Ozone 7 Advanced using a host of vintage modules Many thanks to Peter for both the instrumental work and help with the arrangement. And as always a shout-out to PG music for enabling all these experiments and collaborations via this forum. This has a minimal number of tracks but the arrangement was all initially worked out in BiaB (with additional RTs). We remain appreciative of the time that you take to listen and, as always, welcome any comments. J&B

Charlie I agree 1000%! You all should be very proud of this one. If I had heard this in a record store I would have bought the album right then and there! OOPS showing my age! I should have said CD.

P,B,&J, I have been a long time fan of TJW. Here you have captured the raw, raunchy loose feel and sound that is the hallmark of his style. I also am a fan of all three of you and here is the perfect example of why. Great work, Tom

Wow, authentic ( =sounds like you mean it!) & with a nice hint of menace in the vocal. The guitar is terrific and that ripple effect in the video sucks me right into the spell. Great collaboration.

Great work, Tom Tom, with your knowledge of TJW and your background of top notch productions your comments made the whole project worthwhile for us. You made my production summer. Thank you! Bud

WOW, that is some SERIOUS MOJO, Some MoFoin' MOJO!! (I think that will elude the PG policing system). Down and DIRTY. One of the "livest" productions I've heard on the forum. Peter killed it with his instrumental contribution (PG may be recruiting him), and Janice knocked it out of the park, over parks in adjacent cities, and may have gotten escape velocity to break the earth's gravitational field. SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! Take care. Greg

Y'all deserve all the WOWs you've gotten and more.
A strong blues-rock write in anyone's book. One of your best!
Peter's guitar work and harmonica are excellent throughout.
Janice - you are a STAR, girl.
Bud - you've outdone yourself on this one. Production, mix, video... awesome.
Many listens. All enjoyable. Top shelf stuff....

Super collab! Loved Peter's guitar and harp. Really made the song. Janice, your vocals are always top shelf. You did it again! Bud, the production on this one is really top shelf.
Really, really like this.

This production is unique:
-Great swampy sound in general. Although I've never been I can see Louisiana in front of me ;-) -Great vocals, as usual, from Janice -Peter did a unique and very professional job on both the guitars and harmonica (at first listen I thought these were all realtracks ;-)) Bud, very nice video that enhances the songs atmosphere.
