XTRA XTRA read all about it! An entry for the Rock AND the singer songwriter xtra style competition .... together .... in one song, a gibsonisation+. The original song is from a few years ago so I put the vocals and solo wavs into BIAB and experimented. There are 3 styles although the RTs overlap. At one stage everything is playing, which was a nightmare to mix!
Solo is me on Les Paul through line 6 UX2 Toneport
I also feel a little relevant to the posts Phil Spector/Wall of sound and Multi-Style suggestions
This song started me off on a mix and match marathon and I now have 3 others, less loud, which made the choice of which to post very hard. It started life being called "Her Mum" for some reason but is now:
Echo round your mind

*******************

you do not love a woman cos she's beautiful
she is beautiful because you are in love with her
love takes off the masks that we fear we cant live without
we know we cannot live within

im in love with you cos i need you
and i need you cos im in love with you
sometimes the heart sees what is hidden to the eye
cos where there is love there is life

it was not my ear into which you whispered
it was not my ear it was my heart
it was not my lips that you kissed my darling but my soul
and at the touch of love, poets words I write

tell me who admires you and who loves you
and i will tell you just exactly who you are
there is nothing which can hide or prevent love for long
or disguise it if it is not there

SOLO

we all suffer from the misconception that exists
that perfection should always be there
it does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does
and if you judge people you show contempt for love

you do not love a woman cos she's beautiful
she is beautiful because you are in love with her
a small degree of hope is enuff to cause love
and my words echo round in your mind

I hope you enjoy

Hi Alyn,

What a clever combination of styles and a great arrangement. A haunting chord progression also held my interest.

It sounded kind of Beatlesque in places. That Wah wah guitar was also very enjoyable and fitted the song perfectly.

Good job indeed!

Alyn,

This is great! The three styles work really well together and showcase your lyrics and performance excellently. Brilliant choice!

I have to say that...

Good luck!

Thanks Rec, glad you enjoyed.
One heavily compressed solo with hammer-ons and slides, no pick as I played with my index finger, Wah used as a tone control more than an effect!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
