LYRICS

Starin’ out the window, I’m Looking at the world.
I’m tryin’ to get you off my mind, again.
They tell me I’m a dreamer, that this love could never be.
And now somethin’s tellin me they could be right, again.

Please don’t do this to me now, I’ve given everything,
I did it all just to be with you.
And now you’re not around, they say you’re leaving town.
I’m waiting to hear it from you, I’m needing to hear the truth.

I put out the cigarette that I’m holding in my fingers,
And now like the love between us, it’s crushed just out of sight.
I know I’ll never hear your sweet voice again.
I know we’ll never ever share another warm and tender night.

Oh this café feels so cold, and I’m sitting all alone,
I’m waiting for you, but you’re not gonna show.
And the people who come and go, they could never really know
How I’m breaking up inside.

Please don’t do this to me now, I’ve given everything,
I did it all just to be with you.
And now you’re not around, they say you’re leaving town.
I’m waiting to hear it from you, I’m needing to hear the truth.

Everywhere I go I can see lovers walking hand in hand.
Makin’ plans to be together, and sharin’ all they have.
I look at what I’m left with, try to get my head around the emptiness.
Is it all my fault? Am I the one to blame? Tell me it’s all a dream… a dream.

Please don’t do this to me now, I’ve given everything,
I did it all just to be with you.
And now you’re not around, they say you’re leaving town.
I’m waiting to hear it from you, I’m needing to hear the truth.

Please don’t do this to me now, I’ve given everything,
I did it all just to be with you.
And now you’re not around, they say you’re leaving town.
I’m waiting to hear it from you, I’m needing to hear the truth.
Needing to hear the truth.

Man, this is really awesome and catchy as...catchy as all get out!! (I guess I can't use the other word.)

I lOVE the main piano riff. Is that you playing, or was that a BIAB part? Either way it is great.

This is a radio song, I think. Sounds like a hit to me. Love the lyrics too. Very, very "real." Great work sir.

Thank you for your kind comments David!
The piano is not from BIAB, it is just a piano riff.

Still needs some polishing but I wanted to enter something into the contest and I don't have much time before the closing date smile

Thanks again

Thank you for your comments Gianfranco - yes it reminds me of With or without you as well lol - it certainly didn't start out that way, it was much more of a slow ballad but I just love the "chugging style" and wanted to beef it up a bit, so just went from there. I think it still needs the the electric guitars boosting a bit and maybe a guitar solo but don't have any time to give before the contest end date.

Enjoyed this one Mark.

Excellent production and a good song with a With or Without You vibe.

Nice work.

Mark,

I really enjoyed the listen. I also found it very educational to hear how you've used BIAB. To my ears, this composition is a very strong presentation on all fronts.... quality music!

Thank you so much for the comments Rec, Alyn, Robert, John, Noel -at times I get deflated when mixing and arranging a song and hearing it so many times smile it's lovely to have opinions from "fresh" listeners.

-------------

Alyn, not being a "musician" in the typical sense BIAB is my dream software come true - I always wanted to "create" songs from being a teenager but lacked the playing skills.

Noel, I love to mix and match BIAB instruments with styles as there is so much variety and I can pick what I think suits the song I am trying to make. It's beautiful to hear so many different variations and how it can change a song (think studio album, highly produced and then doing a "live" acoustic/unplugged version. BAB has helped me take my songs to a totally new level that I have wanted to achieve since the early 90s :-O
It makes all the difference with realtracks!

I hope to have more songs uploaded in the not too distant future - dying to get them finished.

Thanks again guys! smile

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
