Original, as only you can produce.
Nostalgia all around indeed, most forum members seem to be at least 40 years or older.
Well, we are older than 40 ;-)

Rob & Anne-Marie

Thanks Rob and Anne-Marie

Hahah 40 was quite a few years ago for me!

Glad you enjoyed my trip down memory lane! Although your songs take me back also to a great time for music the '80's...keep 'em coming!!

Favourite points:
- Overall vibe and rhythm
- Love the vocal, lyrics and the vocal echo sound.
- That guitar solo is sweet.
- Like how you made the drums start softly and then come in louder in verse 2
- "Waitin for the man" harmony

Another great Gibson song.

Cheers,
Rec

Cheers Jez or Rec :>)
Thanks you for your favourite points!
Yeh, that reso guitar solo was perfect ith a bit of overdrive. I had tried a gibbo solo myself but it distracted from the vibe.

Thanks for listening

I can hear some Lennon in your vocal.
Sure hope the Welsh bonnet dancer made it home!

Once we had stopped laughing about her, we were worried and hoped also that she got home. Would love to hear her story tho' grin

Thanks for the compliments and for listening

Can't do it any better than that! This is so well done. I love the fast flying lyrics and great live vibe. Reminded me of John and George's songs in the early 70's. Great vocal. Great mix. Loved the end with the one guitar playing-sounded like something that might have happened in the studio with "the dude in the jacket passing that stuff around". I'm loving this old days week. I still try to tell the young people how great that era was. Loved it!! Take care. Greg

That dude with the jacket was a GREAT banjo player and a British Army deserter!! just released from Prison we later discovered, when he appeared on the north London scene at one of our Hospital dances. Initially he tried to form a Bluegrass band but then the drugs appeared from pockets sewn into his Parka Jacket and we all went NO NO NO! Eventually the Drug Squad appeared, in disguise, and he ended back in jail, we believe. Scary interviews for us though in the local station

It was a good time as you say!!

thanks for listening

take care Greg

The freedom in your writing makes it special.

Your signature vocal makes it more so.

Great story!

Excellent sound - you put together so many good "bands"!

(I am so pleased you are back...)

floyd

very kind floyd!
The line you quoted was my mini homage to the Rolling Stones and their song " The spider and the fly "

My voice used to, and still does to some extent, annoys me so I am glad it has become my signature.
There was a great book shop in London Foyles in Charing Cross Road and I managed to be allowed to sit for an hour or two each available Saturday, on the top floor where I could read the full Music scores of all genres when available: Classical, and the great songs from the 20's, 30's and 40's. A great period when I learnt that rules do not exist in music smile

Glad you enjoy the gibson persona grin

I learn from you, and many others, now

take care

Alyn

This is your best to date and it's a keeper.

Glad it evoked some good memories!!

That Reso certainly did the job with a bit of overdrive! Took a while to find it tho'

I can hear Lennon in this song too.
Great tune. Very enjoyable.

Shigeki,

Thanks for listening,
this is a story of my memories of the 1970's and how I enjoyed playing guitar in a Rock Band and seeing my future wife dancing in front of me!

Your English is excellent, I feel embarrassed that I speak no other language blush

Thank you for listening, it is always good to hear from you

All the best

RACONTEUR!! Yes THAT is a wonderful description

Are you writing about me, Paddy? confused grin Thank you SOO much.
I have written poems/ songs since a young teenager, almost daily at one stage and many have turned into songs, thanks to BIAB.
I even have a sort of "song" about taking teeth out grin as I was a Dentist, and have sadly lost the sample of my Air-Turbine drill crazy that I used to use as a solo instrument via MIDI back in the day.

Glad you enjoyed,

I also look forward to your masterpieces

take care, Sir.

hi Alyn,
I listened to this right after listening to Floyd's 1972... wow... a two-way trip down memory lane! well done! Obviously you were there because nobody could make this stuff up!

Like others have already said, I really liked the reso solo... I might not have considered the instrument selection that works so well in this song... but I'm glad you did!

reading through the comments people have made in response to this song and Floyd's, I think we need a separate thread for 70's survivor tales. There seems to be a large untapped pool of material.... ;-)

Thanks Bob,
We didn't have the hearse long as it spent more time in pieces than on the road, so we bought a little van
Yeh, those dudes were everywhere crazy

Thanks for asking, I'm sorta OK!
