A few months back when I bought BIAB I figured I would keep production simple and concentrate on songwriting. I used stock Logic presets even on vocals and moved fairly quickly from one song to the next. Then I got dissatisfied in small ways with the presets, started customising them. Then I found some 3rd party plugins, liked em and started using those. A familiar story? The upshot is I'm not knocking out songs as quickly as I used to. This is the first in a while, not for want of putting in the hours.

Tallows Beach Let’s go swimming after midnight, just me and you Let’s go swimming after midnight, just me and you Down at Tallows Beach where we can feel brand new
Lighthouse far above us, shining up into the sky Let’s dive beneath the waves, where we both can fly
Sand beneath our feet, your hand in mine Let’s go down to Tallows Beach, one more time
My body has gotten slower now, sometimes it hurts to know You say you like to swim naked, what the hell let’s go
Your body has gotten older too, as I know you will confess You wear it like a beauty queen in a classic vintage dress
The photos of you younger, they really tear me apart Let’s go down to Tallows Beach, let’s make a brand new start
Let’s go swimming after midnight

Matcham,
I really like this. My favorite of yours, so far, I think...
A good write. A simple, yet interesting, structure...
Nice production. Well sung and recorded. The acoustic guitar sound is excellent - is that you playing or loops from Logic (it is not clear from your description).
Well done. The extra work on this shows!

I agree with Floyd. I think this may be one of your best.
Everything is mixed really well and stands out crisply in the mix.
Good, simple, professional production.
Vocals are outstanding.

Thanks very much Floyd, David and John. It's great to be acknowledged by people whose work I respect. Floyd the realtrack acoustic gtr (strums) is the pad in this song. Fingerstyle acoustic is my own doing, as is the electric lead.

Hello Matcham,
What a great tune! This mix is wonderful. The slow, steady pulse is inviting and draws me in. Indeed - time to go swimming after midnight.
Thanks for the share, Pauline PG Music Team

This is beautiful in it's simplicity.
A haunting melody, nicely sung, over an excellent backing.
A great production.

Very pretty song - nice vocals and lovely acoustic guitar sound. Goes well with Richard Clapton's Blue Bay Blues.

Matcham,
A fine song which your vocals and production have done justice to. I really enjoyed the unhurried way you deliver the lyrics and change the dynamics just enough to keep things interesting without losing the atmosphere. My favourite of your songs so far.

Thanks again everyone. I get it. More of the mellow folk vibe. I enjoy the newgrass upbeat style especially with BIAB, but country blues and folk are home base and what people hear when I play around.

Matcham, I love this tune. The mellow steady flow is the perfect vehicle to carry the lyric. Great job on the vocals and the vibrato guitar was an excellent choice for this one. You cause us all to stop and think about how we are slowing down but still appreciate what we have. God Bless, Torrey.
