"I'll Feed It A Mem'ry" A country ballad with a late 1970s feel. I (Alan) wrote this song many, many years ago ... in the late 1980s or early 1990s (need to find my copyright sheet). We're real happy with the backing tracks but not quite where we want it otherwise. The lyric could probably use a little editing and I need to get my phrasing more precise. It's a work in progress. I had Gene Watson in mind when I wrote this. Yeah, that would have been nice! https://soundcloud.com/alananddi/ill-feed-it-a-memryFile:Al - I'll Feed It A Mem'ry.SGU Key=Eb , Tempo 88, Length (m:s)=3:35 8 bar intro, 67 bar chorus, from bar 9 to bar 75. What a beautiful song. Very melodic with sincere lyrics and vocal. The backing is tasteful and supportive as it should be. Brought a tear to my eye.
Like this bit 'My arms, they can't find you And they don't know what to do'
Cheers.

So good to see you visit us again. You guys were one of the most encouraging posters to me back when I first started sharing songs here on the forum. I think about you often. Glad see you.
For the song. I think it would have been right in the pocket for Gene Watson. It's a good write, arrangement, production and performance. Good country song.
Enjoyed my listen.

Alan & Di, Good to see you pop in. I can definitely hear Gene W on this. Nice arrangement and excellent editing of the real tracks. Well written and sung. Hope y'all are doing better and I wish you both a Merry Christmas. Tom

These lyrics alone gave me "the feels" - so well written! Thanks for sharing your song here with us! This is today's Hot Forum Topic! Callie

Al-David, great country tune with a great lyric. And yes, the song would have been right down Gene Watson's alley! As a side note, I used to live a couple of miles from him in the Baytown, Texas area in the early eighties. He was really a prominent force in country music at that time. Take care, Torrey.

A beautiful song and sentiment. I love the way the violin works with the vocal in the verses. In fact all of the RTs blend so well together to provide a smooth backdrop for the mellow vocal.
Enjoyed it, Jez

Hi Tom!
Tis always a pleasure and honor to hear from you. We are doing pretty good. As you probably know, I was diagnosed with colon cancer last November and finished my chemo a couple of months ago ...so far, so good! We also got us a house and moved to a different city. Di's health continues to be an issue. But, we are thankful we are still here to talk about it!
Thanks for the nice comments on this. It's still a work in progress but we're getting pretty close. You'd commented on the editing of the Real Tracks. Actually, we didn't even put this one into a DAW ...this straight off the chord entry page. I mixed and remixed a number of times plus changed several different instruments in and out. This is what we ended up with.
Again, thanks for the nice comments! Merry Christmas to you & yours,
Alan & Di

Hi Scott ...
Glad you liked it. It's an old one I pulled out of the pile a few weeks back. Working on another one from the same era. Will post it pretty soon.

Hello Bob,
Glad you enjoyed this oldie. The chord progression in the chorus was a little ahead of its time. Performed this one live back in the day and that was the comment we most often got ...this sounds more Pop than country with those "fancy" chords in the chorus.
Ha! At least that couldn't say we were stuck in the past!!!
Thanks again. Wishing you well.Merry Christmas,
Alan & Di

Hi Floyd,
See my reply to Tom about how we're doing. It's been a challenge!
Glad you liked this oldie. We really enjoy the classic country but we're also okay with contemporary country. I always enjoyed doing this one back when I was still performing.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas. Take care!

Howdy Greg,
Glad that concept work. The idea came from a totally different conversation going on sat the table. A guy said his wife was feeling sad so he was going to "feed her some happiness". This song evolved from that comment.
Thanks again ...glad you enjoyed it. Wishing you & yours a very Merry Christmas,
Alan & Di

Hi Torrey!
Thank you for your nice words about the song. We truly appreciate it!
We have a little bit in common. When I lived in San Antonio, TX in the 70's my band played behind Gene Watson a couple of times ... as well as Mo Bandy and Darrell McCall. He's a nice man ... soft spoken and always polites. You probably already know it, but he was an auto body repairman in Houston for several years before making it in country music.
Also, I'm originally from Missouri ... St.Charles (a major suburb of St. Louis).
Wishing you & yours,
Alan & Di

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
