I have a 3 chorus song. I want to use an "A" section for the 1st chorus, a "B" section for the 2nd chorus and go back to the "A" section for the 3rd chorus using, for example, _JazFred.sty
Changing styles within a chorus seems straight forward...just click on the measure number where you want the change. But I want the change to be at the beginning of each chorus and play through the whole chorus.
Using F5, I can see where I can use "change RealTracks" to change the individual tracks within the style, but I cannot find a way to change the whole style from the "A" form to the "B" form and back to the "A" form at the beginning of each chorus.
Jeff If I understand correctly, you want to change the Style at each chorus. Can you do this by setting the required Chorus from the drop-down list, and then setting the required style?

Hi Jeff, I know im only a beginner but i got that problem recently too. I wanted to change only the midle chorus of an ABABABA song I wrote but when I used the green tab to change it ALL THREE changed. So what I did was to change the 3 Choruses to one, exctend the number of bars, copy and paste the AB in twice more and make it one long song. Then all I had to do was make the middle chorus Green and return it to Blue at the end of that Chorus and I got what i wanted. I hope thats what you mean WendyM

I might be getting hung up on definitions here. I want to use the same style through the entire song, just different forms of it.
For example, take a look at the description for the Style _JazFred.sty. It says "all instruments have different parts that are played for the A and B sections".
What I'm trying to do is to use all the "parts" of the A section on the first chorus starting at bar 1, switch to all of the "parts" of the B section on the first bar of the second chorus and then back to all of the "parts" of the A section on bar 1 of the final 3rd chorus.
If I go to the StylePicker and look for _JazFred, it doesn't list the A and B forms separately so I can't pick them there.
Normally, you can switch between the A and B sections by clicking on the beginning of a bar (changing the measure from say Blue to Green) but this is usually somewhere in the middle of a chorus. But here, I'm trying to make the A / B switch on the first measure of each chorus.
Maybe the only way to do this is to unwrap the song into one long single chorus and avoid the repeats.

Use the method described by Wendy in that case. Unfold the song into one continuous chorus and use part markers to change between the A/B styles of one style.
You are correct in your understanding that the method Noel described allows you to change Styles but not substyles.
Noel's method will work if you find two styles that use the same instruments but vary a small amount in style. That would accomplish the same effect and allow you to vary the styles by chorus as explained by Noel.
There you go, that's the word I was missing: Substyles! You're right Charlie and Wendy, it's the Substyles I'm trying to change at the start of each chorus not the Style. Wendy's unfolded method seems to work just fine.
Thanks to all who've helped...appreciate your time and support.
There is also a song settings option to vary styles for the middle choruses.
This option will play the first and last chorus with whatever part markers you use, but play the song as if the "B" marker had been set for the middle chorus(es).

My understanding, Jeff, is that since it's in the "song settings" dialog, it only applies to that song, versus a global setting. I couldn't tell you whether plain "save" works, because I always do the full "save with patches and harmony" to ensure I lose nothing.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
