I'm not keen on 'novelty' elements in drum sounds - hand-claps and wood blocks and the like.
So, for instance, in the Answers style, I've tried to cut out the blocks. I've been into the Style Editor, and the drum grid, and entered a 0 value for the the blocks - which makes them disappear from the grid. Save the style under a new name, and exit. But when I play the style, they're still playing. Do I have to go thro every pattern and fillet them out ?

Have you considered just re-mapping those to non-existant or other sounds? Preferences|Drum Kit may be easier than editting the styles.

Thanks, Rachael.

I don't want to go in any deeper than I need to ! A global solution so I never hear a clap or block would be fine by me. But when I go Preferences/Drum Kit, the clap is there, but the wood blocks (as in Answers style, as cited,) are not ? Or at least not under that name ?

There are 28 drum patterns to edit in that style are you editing all of them?
Are you loading the new style and not the original?

If you go into the Drum Kit screen, there is a button 'Set Drum Volumes'. Enabling the volumes will allow you to globally mute the desired sound. I've never done this but it looks like it's what you want if you never want to hear a certain sound. The Help button on the Drum Kit screen tells you how to find the sound if it is not obvious.

Just to clarify: when the screen says 'set to zero' it doesn't (I think) mean set the sound to zero, but re-set a value to 'no change'. The 'minimise' button gets a "-100% " message and does in effect mute the instrument.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
