Found some great RTs, alas with stereo reverb and delay FXs included in the WAV and WMA sample files themselves. IMO pretty useless with too much FX, and as such also hard to pan in a mix.
You MAY already have the same RealTracks without the effects and reverb. There might be a direct input, DI, variation or another type of variation available. There is a box in the bottom right side of the RealTracks selection window that lists what variations are available.
Also, if you provide the RealTracks identification number, for example RT559, it makes it easier for other forum members to identify which RealTracks you are referring to.
Hi Jim, thanks. I added the numbers above, and below is the RT assign page i think you mean; one of those RTs highlighted, the others are the 5 below it. (you mention "selection window"; couldn't find that). Dunno as Dumbo what TS means, but it seems to me that there's no bare bone DI-ed version from the most right column. F
Sorry, can't help you out there, as there are no RealCharts either for Michael Thompson, as you can use the RealCharts midi track with a DI virtual instrument that comes out not too bad with a bit of humanizing. Yes it stuffs things up when there's too much reverb, they are late numbered tracks they should of been recorded DI as well.
I've made some notations on your photo. That appears to be RealTrack RT1637. I've marked a checkbox where you can filter direct input tracks. Also, the click to read memo at the top of the photo frequently details variations.
As noted by fiddler2007 in his initial post, the Michael Thompson series of RealTracks (RT1435, RT1436, RT1637, RT1638, RT1770 and RT1771) do not offer variations without effects or that include direct input.
+2 But what can you do ? whats done is done. I wouldn't care if all RTs were DI, as you can do anything with them but what can you do with something that's full of reverb ? That's why PG introduced DI tracks, from someone asking the same question way back. I just finished mixing a band with some added RTs & RD as they just used a drum machine, but the lead guitarist didn't use a DI box and was just full of too much reverb, he nearly got replaced with DI Brent.
What sounds great in real life useually won't work in a mix for 44.1 kHz 16bit digital. Far too limited head room dB wise versus a live audio situation .. These tracks sound great when used solo, or quite bareboned in a mix; Michael Thompson & PG know their stuff. However i had to replace this great RT with a far less revved-up guitar VST plugins thang. Maybe hire a real guitarist later, alas there's no budget for that for just a simple songwriters demo. Small issue also with these type of Funky Strat styles is that they usually come with a sharpish clicky rhytmic muted flatpick FX part, also nice live, but when they are recorded too loud they interfere with mixed percussion and drums too much, and are also hard to EQ or compress out due the mid to high frequency range. A lot of audio editing maybe can do something there though, or using a midi controlled fast compressor plugin. Example: Native Scarbee Funk guitar is IMO not the one to use in a busy complex mix. Have a look at RealStrat http://musiclab.com/products/realstrat/info.html They will follow and play the same chords as the BB/RB Chord track, you can create and arrange any patterns, use as vst or standalone. They are DI. You can send the midi out of to any other vst Guitar/Instrument, so it can be sent out to a nylon.
I removed both RealGuitar and RealStrat, I couldn't figure how to use it with BB and/or RB. I've had a few "emails" with the owners but we didn't communicate very well.
Another reason was; I felt it needed a Keyboard and I have no skills in that area.
Thanks in advance for your input. DE
Win 10, 64 bit, love my Lenovo T420, BIAB 2019 (613), RB 2019 (2)
You only need your PC keyboard to press the spacebar to start/stop and to type filenames and chords, no midi keyboard You can use RealGuitars in RapidCompose as well with great results, just set it to MIDI Solo, RapidComposer will fit any midi and to play to the chords and scale. You can add keyswitches to the phrases and it will play the same articulation anywhere you drop it on the chord track.
Enable Chord Output in Biab BB Chord Output WinMac
Save your Biab song first then save to MID > File on Disk.
Open the Song.SGU in RealBand or tracks in your DAW. Import the saved midi file or drag in.
You will be just using the BB Chord Output track in the midi file. Set this track to RealGuitar. * Look at the lowest note on the BB Chord Output track and see if it is in the RealGuitar keyboard range, else transpose by 12 semitones. Check the RealGuitar is reading the chords correctly as some chords that BB creates are wrong like maj7 has the extra note that make it a maj9, usually you just delete the top note. Set RealGuitar to Pattern > Chords > select pattern/s Create another midi track for the Patterns and set it to RealGuitar also, if you are in a DAW just put a send on the pattern track back to the BB Chord Output RealGuitar track. Drag patterns out to the track, in RealGuitar enable Track button at the bottom. Look in your manual for notes in the pattern to create Shots/Holds and Endings.
You can add any Articulation switches to the patterns by sending the midi out from RealGuitar 1 that is playing the patterns to RealGuitar 2 (or Kontakt etc.) on another track set to MIDI Solo, this track you add key switches in the KEY SWITCHES button, now add those notes in RG 2 midi track. You can adjust the settings in HUMANIZE and turn it on. Add whatever FX (Amplitube, Guitar Rig...) you like to the DI guitar.
