Hello, everybody

It will be the season of cherry blossoms soon in Japan.
It will begin to bloom at the end of March and will be in full bloom at the beginning of April.
Cherry blossom seeing is held everywhere in Japan, and in the evening cherry blossoms are lighted up and we can enjoy them all the night.
Hundreds of cherry blossoms also are planted along the banks of the river flowing in my city, and I am looking forward to this season every year.

This is a song of such cherry blossom season.
It is one of the songs in the ballroom dancing CD that I had produced for a dance instructor a few years ago.
It is written to be able to dance at the tempo of Viennese Waltz.
Comments encouraged.
Have at it.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Title: 酔桜Dream (Translation: Dreams of wine and cherry blossoms)
Vocal: Natsuki Yoshikawa, our local female jazz vocalist

Summary of lyrics

Cherry petals are dancing in the wind
One of them falls to my lips
I feel like romping around
With a premonition of love

Under the cherry tree
A lot of petals are falling
I tried floating the petal
To my cold glass

I murmur to myself “I love you”
“I want to be dyed gently with your color”

Pretending to be forgotten
Spring will come around
I'm in love with someone
In the season of cherry blossoms like a child

In a drunk momentum I say “I love you”
It is because of drinking
That our eyes are intertwined with each other.

Embraced by night cherry blossoms
I will sleep peacefully
Turning off the lights
I want to stop the time
I love short-lived cherry blossoms
I miss such cherry blossoms

Another song that cannot go unnoticed. This is really beautiful in so many ways.

The choice of a Jazz Waltz just sits so perfectly. Mancini would be very pleased.

Going back for another listen.

Hi Shigeki,

Nice and loungy with really nice vocals.
We have a cherry tree in the garden. It will be in full bloom somewhere in April (depending on the weather) and it really is a most wonderful blossom.
So is this music.

Shigeki,

Lovely music...I can see the waltzers while listening!
An impeccable production - the accordion is a very nice addition.
There are so many nuances in your work - like the way you bring the strings down for the piano break.

Hello, Charlie, floyd, Scott, Will, Trevor, Rob, Sergio, Rob & Anne-Marie, Robert and Kenny

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I much appreciate your very kind words and your continuous supports.
I am very happy you all like this Jazz Waltz.

"The Days of Wine and Roses" is one of my favorite songs.
And maybe, this tune resembles "The April Fools" of Bacharach a little bit.
Mancini and Burt Bacharach are my favorite composers.

There was an announcement of the flowering time of the cherry blossom in this region in the afternoon news.
I am very much looking forward to it.

Thank you again to all.
Best regards.

Mr. Adachi!

So, what have we here, my friend? Another side, another face, another sound, another room in the musical mind of Shigeki Adachi???

Where to start? I love any music composed in waltz time, no matter what genre it is. That "one, two, three / one, two, three, / one, two, three" rhythm, it just makes me feel as happy as a child when I hear it.

The addition of the accordion is de-light-ful, and on a jazz kick, at that! Michel Legrand would probably love this, too.

Your vocalist, Ms. Natsuki Yoshikawa...does she swing, or does she swing?! Heck, yes, she does! I believe, I'm very sure, I'm almost certain, that this is first time I've ever heard a Japanese vocalist singing jazz, Shigeki, and it's finger-snapping, toe-tapping good. Ms. Yoshikawa's performance communicates sheer, unadulterated, jazz-singing pleasure. I'll bet she sings jazz while she's cooking her dinner, or vacuuming a rug, and with a smile on her face as she does so.

And who wrote these lyrics?

“I want to be dyed gently with your color”. Man, that is hot! In fact, the sentiments expressed by the words seem somewhat more dramatic and passionate than the upbeat, uplifting tone of the song would suggest. It's a startling contrast of feelings, like watching the sun come up, and then go down, all at the same time...

Congratulations, Shigeki, on treating us to this cool and hot little number, and with such a lovely title, too.

Very well done, Shigeki! Another fine arrangement, well produced. As has been stated, has a real Mancini feel - and that's a real compliment!

Great job!

Hello, David, Torrey, Loren, Dani, Steve, Peter and Angelo

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I much appreciate your very kind words.
I am very glad you all like this tune and Natsuki's vocal.

Loren,
Michel Legrand is one of my most favorite composers.
I always truly appreciate my vocalists, especially Natsuki Yoshikawa who is very good at jazz tunes.
Without their vocals I could not produce my music.
And these lyrics were written by the dance instructor with whom I had produced the ballroom dancing CD.
He is not only a good dancer, but also a good lyricist and vocalist.
The other ballroom dancing tunes in the CD can be listened at the link below, please visit there if you like.

Thank you again to all.
Best regards.
