That's insane. I've had an account there for 5 years, and sold hundreds of minutes worth of songs. I don't have commercial aspirations and I'm OK with the Youtube deal. The more the merrier.

But that's good to know. I casually know a manager there. If I run into him I'll ask. It just changed hands for about the 10th time, new president, so who knows what they are/will be doing. Probably screwing us like Spotify. I got a check for something like $1.14 from them once.

I'm the one encouraging Andy to mix on headphones. It has everything to do with his hearing loss curves. He would encounter very serious room mode issues to compensate for his hearing loss at certain frequencies. Please do not recommend that monitor speakers are better for him. In most cases true, but not for his situation.

Thanks, Scott.

You guys are all great for giving me advice, and it's all good. I don't expect everyone to keep track of my (many) issues. Believe me, the list is looooong!!!

Scott's really helping me. Way above and beyond. It's a lot to tackle. He's a mensch.

And, thank you RHarv. So much tech stuff I don't know anything about. I looks like something NASA would use for rocks, or the NSA!

Thanks, Scott. Yes, I figured out earlier in the thread that was the situation. Very good.

Hey, Matt. I was just writing a post in another forum but since the subject came up here, I'll take the opportunity.

I got the Griffin PowerMate USB volume controller you suggested and it is PERFECT! Nearly.

It works seamlessly with all applications other than BB. I wondered if you have a suggestion. For example, when I pull the DAW up or ITunes or Youtube, the unit automatically controls volume, overriding the typical volume slider (the speaker icon in the bottom right of my Windows 8). It's automatically the volume control for all of them; for the whole system, except BB.

Then, if I click on BB, to "notify" my system this is the software I'm working on now, the wheel will not control BB volume until I click on the speaker icon. Then any anytime I stop BB from playing, when I restart it (just clicking the spacebar to stop, then again to play), the wheel again will not control volume until I click on the speaker icon.

I contacted Griffin and they don't know, suggesting I contact PG, which I'll do if you don't have a suggestion that will solve it.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Matt

I do not have a better answer; I also use the speaker icon in the Taskbar. My Powermate is the original version so it's probably different. My guess is that BIAB is perhaps not following some Windows convention and the two companies need to confer.

OK. Well it is still AWESOME! Once the melody is created in BIAB, it's all DAW anyway.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
