Was playing with a new adoption :-) and seeing what kind of noises it could make. Also Ed Shaw had mentioned that he was experimenting with a wah pedal so I turned on a couple of effects and put a simple blues jam together. Came up with the title after reading an article on a lawsuit being settled with some of the members of Procal Harem. Hope they don't mind the play on words A Lighter Shade of Blues Guitar: Gibson ES339 Amp: Purdy Tubescreamer (Maxon 808) Compression Boss CS-3 Dunlop Wah ***** Song Summary ************* Title: A Lighter Shade of Blues File:A Light Shade of Blues.SGU Key=A , Tempo 85, Length (m:s)=3:00 No intro. 12 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 12. Yeah! Awesome, Scott. Some great licks happening, and very fluid lines too.
339 looks great, I thought it was a 335 at first from the pic over on soundcloud.
Good stuff!

Good stuff! Thanks Dave for checking out the song. I really like the small body guitar which directed me to the es339. Small guitar with a really deep rich tone.

Scott, I liked the guitar tone. Those 339's are sweet! The steel was a very odd choice for a blues tune and surprisingly it worked well. Great playing. Well done. Tom

Hi Scott,
I (Alan) had a 335 & a 175 back in the 60's and 70's - wish I had them now! The slightly smaller body of the 339, in my opinion, lends it slightly better for rock than the 335 - but either one works for me!
Nice blues number - somewhat reminiscent of early SRV. Nice licks and great sound!

Tom Thanks Tom I am really enjoying this guitar. It is very light and has a 60's style neck. Interesting you mentioned the pedal steele. I was looking for 12/8 realtracks and it popped up. I remembered you had some awesome tracks where you actually played the steele and thought would this work in a blues tune. The timing of the playing seemed to fit just right for the tempo so I gave it a go...

Great tone from the guitar on this one. Great playing as well. This is reminiscent of some of the jams I heard my brother play pedal steel with when the wah guitar part was playing. I'm sure back in the day, one played whatever instrument they were using at the time when a jam broke out...
Great listen.

That was pro ..bro, Honest you play really well.
I have been around the block were gigs and all that are concerned, I know when someone is playing to their arrangements.
But Scott you seriously have to think more on your biab backing tracks, I heard what sounded like that steel guitar, when I should have heard strings, drum, and bass.
That my friend is how good you are.
Thanks

Charlie Thanks Charlie for checking out the song. The pedal steele was kind of a risk in the song. I stumbled on it by accident when I was looking for a realtrack that would fit the 12/8 time signature. I was also inspired by an awesome guitar player Tom Adams who is an incredible steele player. This one of the cool things with BIAB it provides endless experimentation.

Thanks Thanks so much for checking out the song and I really appreciate your comments. I loved to play to a 12 bar blues track. I loved the way this genre sounds but more especially how it feels. The steele track was kind of an experiment and tribute at to one of the other guitar players in the forum.. I hear you on using one of the strings real tracks. That would sound very cool as well. Will definitely try that on a future track.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
