I still can't get Power Tracks to render a midi track to a wav file. I am wondering if PG Music is ever going to fix this. Any ideas? Thanks -Bernie
Bernie,
I have no problem at all rendering to wav in Powertracks. This suggests that it's not a general problem. Have you been in touch with PG Music? I think that that might be the best option. I believe that they sometimes remote control a computer (with the user's permission) and track down problems this way. It seems to me that there is something that's a little different about your system that's not obvious and we haven't managed to isolate it. I suspect that it's something like this that's causing the issue.
Actually, rendering to WAV depends upon the softsynth selected. I have no problem rendering to WAV with TTS-1 or Forte, for example, but some of the Kontakt Libraries just don't render properly. When it doesn't, rather than pulling out what little hair I have left, I just bring the MIDI file into a diffferent DAW, set the VSTi, and render from there.
Sometimes, just trying to render it to it's own track works; other times, I get nothing on the track; other times I get sporadic sound on the track.
I haven't done it enough to see a pattern, and won't have time to test it in the near term, but it does happen and I do feel Bernie's pain. But when I have some time to work at it, I will definitely post my results.

Thanks John. I always have the problem with Kontakt from Native Instruments, not sure about others, I'll have to test that. I have been saving the midi file, then opening it in Reaper and rendering it from there. No problem with that. Thanks again!
I put in a ticket with support about the rendering to wav issue. I was told that Coyote has to be the default. If that is the case, I can't save the effects of my Kontakt VSTi. Any ideas? Thanks - Bernie
Select "Microsoft GS wavetable synth" (#3) and Coyote WT (#4, #5) and as shown on IMAGE 1 below.
The Kontakt VSTi is then loaded on the individual track as shown on IMAGE 2. (If I recall correctly, I posted this image in a previous thread of yours about the Kontakt horns softsynth.)
I did everything you said. I could get a track to render to wav, but if the Kontakt VSTi was loaded in that track only partial notes rendered to wav. Any ideas? Thanks - Bernie
I have no other ideas that those already suggested in my earlier posts in other threads of yours.
The fact you can render wav files satisfactorily with other soft synths is showing that the process is working properly. If I am correctly interpreting the information you've provided, the problem exists with Kontakt Horns (not other softsynths).
To me, this suggests the following about your set up...
1. PG Music's VSTi programming is interfacing interfacing correctly with softsynths such as Coyote WT.
2. The VSTi is not interfacing correctly with the Kontakt player when Horns are loaded.
3. This problem may be due to one or more of Powertracks, Kontakt or your computer.
As I sit here typing, I find myself wondering if maybe Kontakt requires information on multiple midi channels but Powertracks is sending only a single channel. Unfortuately, I don't have Kontakt so I cannot investigate this.
When you play a midi file using Session Horns, does that also only play note here and there (I seem to recall you said something like this before)?

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
