I am trying to modify the notes a real track lap steel is playing (eliminating some, adding others) is this something that can be accomplished? I was able to change notes around in the piano roll, however it didn't seem to reflect back into the real track when played. Thanks, Bill.
No, unfortunately, not in BIAB. You are trying to edit the representative notation that was created after the audio RealTrack performance, or at the same time by a separate process. Not all RealTracks have this notation. The tracks that do have it provide the notation more for educational purposes.
Technically it has been possible to do this on an audio file for a few years now by using a different program called Melodyne Editor. This is an expensive program that requires some operator skill. You can, for example, shift a major third note a half-step flat to make a minor chord. If you shift anything in audio too far, you will hear artifacts (noise in the sound).

I use Matt's approach quite a bit to tweak the notes of rendered real tracks with Melodyne Editor. Yes, it is expensive, and there is a learning curve. But it does the small things with ease, and with time and practice, you can do some pretty amazing things if you need to. But it is not a tool that you start your BiaB experience with (I see this is your first post) as there are many more things to learn about unlocking the BiaB performance you are looking for within the tools that PGMusic gives you. You can open it in Realband set it to snap, highligt the beats or bars and choose Generate > MultiRiff. You can use a virtual instrument on the notation track if you don't mind some editing.
While possible to do with a lot of manual intervention (cutting/pasting/chopping/rearranging the WAV file), you really can't get RealTracks to play your melody very efficiently or effectively.
They were never designed for that. RealTracks do not follow notes; the notes you see are merely following the RealTrack (so you can see what was played, not for the RealTrack to play it).

If most tracks have been mapped to RealChart notation it should be able to create up the note based generation rather than just chord based generation. I think it needs something like MultiRiffs but MultiNotes where it generates up some different variations from the midi /notes you enter to RealTrack notes. Just like you can use a short note in a sampler by looping the end of the note to sustain and decay it. Especially now there are 12-Key RealTracks being released, that's an enormous amount of variations.
Another free one I found for Win/Mac is LoopJam https://loopjam.wordpress.com/ just load a "stereo" 4 or 8 bar section of realtrack and rearrange it just how you like by selecting a Scene number and edit it by moving the white notes up or down, then export to wav. In BB or RB you can highlight the bars then drag to DROP WAV you will have to convert any mono files to stereo. *It also needs lower case .wav
I don't get it. If Biab can internally make the notes of RealTracks match the set key and to follow the chords being played, so why then it cannot offer changing the notes by changing the notes in the notation?

The answer was in the second post of this thread, by Matt. However, this is an old thread, version 2022 has just introduced playable realtracks. I haven't tried this feature yet, but maybe you can find it interesting. Please, take a look here: https://youtu.be/z3r85Sj2wfA

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
