My SoundCloud page is Phil Edwards WVFL. Here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/user-329906955The title of the latest song is Baby Call Me. I wrote the music and lyrics, then recorded it using BIAB and RB. I performed the vocal, guitar and other percussion. I also added a bass note and a piano chord at the end of the song. The drums, horns, tenor sax, piano and bass are from RealTracks. The basic style is _EVFNK60.STY (Funk 60s w/ Vintage Electric Pia) RealTracks in style: 2260:Bass, Electric, FunkyGroove60s Ev 100 RealTracks in style: 2157:Piano, ElectricVintage, Rhythm FunkyGroove60sJohn Ev 100 RealTracks in style: 2158:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm FunkyGroove60s Ev 100 RealTracks in song: 588:Sax, Tenor, 2-Beat Rock Ev 110 (Bluesy) RealTracks in song: 2110:Horn Section, Background, R&B Ev16 110 RealDrums in Song: FunkyGroove60s^1-a: Snare & Tom , b: 8ths Hat, Snare The crash and ride cymbals are from the Paiste website. I used Gain Change, EQ and reverb to reduce the hit and get a longer decay. I used Wavepad to Normalize the track. The effects used were PG Gain Change, PG Reverb, PG Ten Band EQ and PG Dynamics. This is my first track recorded with Real Band. I hope you enjoy it. Also, thanks to all those who answered questions for me.

Phil, You can really sing! Loved the arrangement and write. Great groove. The only nit I have is it doesn't sound like it was mastered and also the horns need some reverb to give them their own space. Looking forward to hearing more. Much enjoyed, Tom

Nice song and good overall mix. The vocals are spot on and your choice for solo's worked well. Enjoyed this and looking to hear more from you soon.

Phil,
Very nice first Showcase post. Welcome!
Easy to tell a lot of work went into this... the horns are placed nicely throughout. Adding the sax with the horns works well. All other elements of the mix sound good, too.
Super vocal.
Enjoyed it.

Tommy,
Thanks for the nice compliment and the honest feedback. You're right about the mastering. I know the term, but I really don't know what that entails. Also, I don't have the software for it. I am going to post something about that on the forum and ask for help.
As for the horns, I was thinking about my memory of 1970's Al Green records.
Thanks again.

Welcome aboard and congrats on a fine song. Your performances, the choice of RT's and the arrangement all works very well. As mentioned some mastering to make it shine and pop would be sweet. Izotope makes premier mastering plug-ins and offers a lot of info on their site. I'm sure you will get an earful if you ask about mastering on the mixing/recording forum Enjoyed it! J&B PS Really liked "The Howling."

Much enjoyed, Tom We agree with Tommy who, by the way, is very good at mastering songs. Apart from that, very nice work! Rob & Anne-Marie

Nice job on this - agree with Tom that this would greatly benefit from mastering. A very nice piece though and very cool arrangement.

Hi Phil,
We do quite a bit of Smooth R&B and you have captured the Al Green sound quite well! And yeah, some mastering would help the final sound. But, that said, you have all the elements in place., Your voice suits the era and the genre. We really enjoyed this! best to you!
