I was watching a documentary on an extraordinary guitar player from the late 60's he talked about music being full of colors and textures. Some of the recreational tools of the day probably helped that along as well. :-)

So it planted a question in my head

Can Sound be a Color

No intro. 60 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 60. Repeat x1 chorus
No Melody
No Soloist track.
Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Song is saved with bar changes for Tempo , Time signature,RealDrums Changes,
Style is _BEATBOX.STY (Beatbox Hip Hop)

RealTracks in style: ~2474:Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085
RealTracks in style: 1943:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance Strings Ev 120
RealTracks in style: ~2267:Synth, BellPad, Rhythm 80sPopPads Ev 085
Loop in Song: Other\Human Beatbox - beatbox_lightbuzz80a ev16.wav
RealDrums in style: UrbanPopEv8GoodGirl^1-a:Kck1, b:Clap

Guitar Les Paul Custom
Amp Purdy
Pedals MaxonOD808, Flashback Delay, Boss CS-2

Hi Scott,

There's a real nice ambience to this song. And the melody you wrote is such danged pretty! Who, besides you of course, might have thought to use a Hip Hop backing track for an ambient piece this pretty?

The tone and effects you used on your guitar are superb. Everything about this is a jhoy to listen to. Excellent song and performance. We totally enjoyed it.

great sound Scott

I must've seen that doc at some point

that sounds so familiar, like the chord D is blue in color, etc.

like your guitar sound and what you're doing melody-wise

great Scott! sound

the tempo goes up and down

or did I get a 60's high just listening?

Very nice, Scott! Love the tone on your guitar on this one. Very tastefully played and well produced.

That was really pretty. Liked the tempo changes and your "signature" guitar sound (and the use of delay).
Nicely done.

well, you sure give it a color here ;-)
this is perfect, and the bellpad is the choice for such atmospheric things.
The tempo change came as a surprise.

Cool!

Nice, Scott.

The backing works great for this - a good "bed" for your guitar. Supportive and never "in the way" of your playing.

A good listen throughout.

Thanks so much for the awesome comments. I got a kick out of the hiphop loop when I added it to the chord structure. This is pretty cool software .Glad you liked it

Thanks Kenney for checking out the song. I got a real chuckle out of you comments on the tempo. I have been experimenting with some of the setting in the software with the holds and tempo changes to try and make the song more interesting. If I can remember anything clearly from the 60's the tempo changes and colors observed might not have been in the actual music :-)

Hey man, this is far out Scott, it's cool, and I can dig it, man.

Fly on little wing.

The ghost of Jimi was just sitting here in my studio helping me mix something and I asked him if sound can be a color.

He blew out a bunch of cigarette smoke under his fedora.

And said:

"Yeah, man tell Scott I already told him it was purple. Kind of like a haze. Dig it man, he already knows that."

But anyway, I really liked this!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful! I imagined a lovely lilac colour and rain. It was oddly soothing and had me swaying in my seat. I wasn't expecting it to pick up, but I was glad it did. Nice flashes of magenta sprang in to view when that happened. A+!

I will have to look in to this documentary! Though here's something cool you may not have known: there is a condition called synesthesia that basically causes the senses to overlap. So people can see colours or taste different flavours when they hear sounds, or another example — specific colours have flavours! It's a rather fascinating condition that many actually consider a gift. It inspires lots of people to become musicians and artists all around the world.

Thanks for sharing!

Well given the number of light shows I saw in the 60's I'd say YES.

Lot of things to like here...as always your playing and tone and as already mentioned the tempo changes brought a lot to it.

Steve used the word "tasteful" and that can always be applied to your productions. We'll throw in "classy" also.

Enjoyed the spins!
