Since everyone is playing the "sounds like game" on this one... I'd have to say Warren Zevon. Dripping Zevon, in fact... both the write and the production (and vocal).

Dig that snare. Awesome solos! (Dig the delays).

Nice ooohs! Cool beatlesque bridge...

The effect on the outro lyric is very cool!

A lot of "cool" went into this (and a lot of work, I imagine). Excellent mix - nice loud.

Hi Floyd.
To do the last bit first - glad you turned it up! It needs VOLUME.
Hey, Warren Zevon - brilliant. My favourite of his has to be "Lawyers, Guns and Money", though I like all his rockier stuff. Thrilled that you made that link.
Glad you liked the "Phil Collins" snare - straight out of the 80s!
The outro is my old Syntovox again. I know it's going to pack up one day, so I feel the need to keep using it whilst I can.
"Cool" is very acceptable - many thanks for that and the kind review.
Cheers, ROG.

Hi Greg.

Always pleased to get your opinion and so pleased you liked this track.

The MIDI drums are all samples which we've made in house and we've built up the collection over the years - some actually started out as 8 bit samples from the 1980s! Each drum is recorded separately using several mics and the result is then processed and heavily compressed. We make up a kit to suit each song and play the samples using the "DRUM SOURCE" sample player. The whole drum track is then compressed again using upward limiting, to take out any peaks where the samples combine. (Well you did ask!)

Nice of you to mention the step-change at the end of the solo. The progression changes key and goes from an "E" chord to a "Cmaj7" with the guitar sustaining the "B" note through the transition. Glad you thought it worked.

So, many thanks for the listen and the kind words.

Cheers, ROG.

Many thanks, Peter.
Much appreciate the positive review and comments about the guitar work.
Glad you liked the old Syntovox vocoder. It's a bit tricky to use, but great when it works!

ROG,

I apologise for missing this one. I don't seem to have enough time to spend in this forum these days and the songs slip by pretty quickly.

As with everything you deliver, you emblazon it with your dazzling musical signature and seal it with a first class production. When I listen to your works, I'm always left wondering "How did he do that?"... your instrumental skills, your arrangement skills and your ability to produce are incredibly impressive.

Another excellent musical ride.

All the best,
Noel

What a powerful track! I love how much energy its got - it reminds me a classic rock tune from the late 70's or early 80's. Very catchy, and very intense! Great job, ROG and thanks for sharing smile

Hello ROG,

Looks like we missed this one. So glad we got to it.

It's hard to come up with anything new to say after all the accolades this one has already received. What really caught our ear was the calm of the bridge in contrast to the drive and edgy presentation of the rest of the songl. That was a total surprise and sounded so good!

It's hard to believe one can find so many "contributors" on a small, innocent looking USB HD! There are many fabulous tools available to craftsmen of all trades. However, without the skill and innovation of the craftsman, the tools have few special qualities in their application. You are a master craftsman, my friend!

The manner in which you seamlessly blend so many contrasting yet reciprocally ingratiating components defines the creativity of your work and the execution of the finest details necessary for such an accomplishment.

In addition to all that, we really enjoyed this work of musical art!

Hi Alan & Di.

Many thanks for all the nice comments, my friend.

Pleased you liked the step-change into the bridge. Trying to get away with introducing a maj7 chord into a rock song is a bit risky, so I'm happy to get positive feedback.

Really glad you enjoyed the track.

Cheers, ROG.

Rog, you have produced a killer tune here! You have layered the guitars in an excellent fashion. But the part I enjoyed the most is the section starting at 1:40. It is here where you have taken the song to another level above most of what is heard on the forum. The amount of work involved on this is very much noticed and appreciated by me! Take care, Torrey.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
