Yep, output came from Cubase, standard 24bit WAV settings, exported vocals mix. Done that before with especially 16bit, but that didn't give me such distortion as far as i recall .... Just tried playing it again, white noise jumps on and off at various spots, even when there is 0dB (empty) audio, and the sound (RTs, MIDI) keeps playing, but BIAB hangs and must be killed by task manager.
I converted it to 16bit, same thing with white noise on and off, even with the audio track erased; guess something goes wrong with my BIAB installation and the audio drivers. BTW i tried MME with BIAB, same thing (with an empty audio track). Think somethings wrong with my BIAB installation, or even with my RME UFX ii insterface. Windows 10 64bit related?
Funny thing is that i noticed some dropouts and hiccups with Youtube playback, thought it was the Shockwave player.
ADDED info: Soloist track was frozen, unfroze it, re generated the lot, re imported the 24bit audio file, switched to ASIO, and now all seems well. Beats me ! But then alas again white noise, but to a lesser extent. - F
Since BIAB has to convert the 24-bit file to 16-bit, and then do its normal CPU-intensive processing, I'm wondering if you should set your ASIO buffer a bit higher than it is.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
Tried that, maybe not enough though. Used a 16bit file conversion also, but BIAB seems still to be ill behaving, though far less white noise errors ... have no time to suss things out alas.
"Maybe not enough" - that could be. There was another thread a month or so ago in which it was discussed how processor-intensive BIAB is. It's not at all like just playing audio back. The ASIO driver adds to the load. Try setting the buffers much higher.

Found maybe the cause; every time i load the same song file, EVEN WITHOUT AUDIO, with _MARINER.STY from the Xtra Styles 3 pack, BIAB 466 crashes when starting playback after generating the realtracks, with other styles from X3 there seems no problem. I wonder if others have the same problem?
PS Latency buffering, thanks, will do some testing and will react later as got to do other stuff first ... bit reluctant though as other stuff runs well at 64 samples, and might forget to reset back to 64 LoL. Maybe MME for BIAB only? F
I just tried the _MARINER style and it worked fine for me. I wonder if, when it was installed, it didn't quite install properly when unpacked. I've had this happen with software before. Have you tried re-installing the XTR3 package?
Also, as a test it's worth loading the style and its demo in Realband and seeing if it generates ok.
If that doesn't solve the problem, send an email to see if they can email you the style and what's needed for it.
Changing the ASIO buffer settings is sometimes required, as much as it would be nice to set it and forget it.
When recording, set fewer buffers to reduce latency.
When applying lots of plugins for mixing, set more buffers. For example, when using Melodyne Editor, set it very high.
Try raising the buffers in BIAB when generating many RealTracks and see what happens.
Of course, it's possible to stall a computer by setting the buffers much too high. Every system is different and you need to try all the settings to see what happens, then maybe change them for certain activities.

fiddler, .... Have you tried re-installing the XTR3 package? ...
Just started downloading again ... i found the 2017_49pak re-downloaded was slightly larger than the one i got last Xmas !! Alas that didn't do it. Guess ill have to re-install the WAV RTs too then ...

Just built a faster PC with more balls and memory recently to avoid all that LoL ...

No crackles, but white noise, switching on and off on varying bars when regenerating. In the old days the stuff you put out loudly on a PA to analyze a room for acoustics & EQ. Thanks for your input, guys. -F
ADDED info:Reinstalled the lot, still the same, while other Xtra Styles 3 play OK with the same song, and no BIAB crashes. _MARINER.STY loaded again .... BIAB crash as above. Loaded the songfile in Realband ... display shows distortion on RT 2438 Clawhammer banjo. Regenerating and the distortion is on another place, and it starts and ends exactly on a bar change. Give it up for now ...
Well meanwhile back at the station i loaded RT2438 Clawhammer Banjo in to other SGU files, and on my PC it generates one or two white noise bars somewhere on varying points. Mailed PGmusic, asked them for a RT 2438 new download, and got a quick response from Deryk asking for info. Sent him various frozen SGU files Crashing an/or loading with distortion, and one crash report generated from Realband, the only one i saw so far. Hope they can figure it out ... over and out? - F

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
