I'll try to give it a whirl when I get home. I have licensed WinZip, WinRAR, and I have 7-zip installed. I'll download the files, try all and report back.

Some how, I got the zip files to extract into a folder called "Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Jazz EleFred Sw 125".

I moved that folder to my BiaB folder and into a folder I call User Style. I guess that is not the right thing to do as I can't find the style in Style Picker. Once the file is extracted from the split zips where and how to I place it in the BB folder? And, YES I did re-Build my styles list when I started BiaB.

Don't know how I actually extracted the files to the style folder but I did it with 7-Zip and selected all the 6 zip files and set it to extract inside (what ever that means). Very confusing...

First of all a big HURRAYH for the breakthrough! laugh

Now for the followup:

Forget that new folder you created, just drop the EleFred folder whole into the Usertracks folder that already resides within your RealTracks folder, and presto - your new set is ready for use, no further steps required smile

To then load any of these custom made tracks into your BBox project, use the Select a Usetrack for this track" item from the menu of your chosen track (Piano/Guitar/Strings).

Any further questions just holler! cool

Thanks a million!

I got the Guitar track to be a User Track and I was able to have your user track work!

I take it the only track there is a Guitar track. There is no piano, bass, or string track available from your file. I am new to using any user tracks. That is why I was checking your tracks out to get an idea of what can be done by a user. The guitar track works quite nicely.

Again, thanks for all your patience. It is appreciated.

Most often there's just one instrument per UT, unless you have a set of them in a bundle. I suppose this one technically is a "set in a bundle", but each one is a separate tempo rather than separate instruments.
Most of these actually come in just one instrument and one tempo at that, it is just a matter of choice of the creator.

Glad you got it all to work in the end, enjoy! cool

p.s. Please note that Usertracks do not have any automatic "swap based on tempo" like the stock RT's do, so you must manually pick the best fit for each case as possible.
p.s.p.s. Oh, and Usertracks do not have any built-in Db (loudness) adjustments like the stock RT's, so mind the volume setting for any Usertrack you try. In shoirt: Best to turn the volume well down before first play and bring it up gradually during playback to suit taste.

So here's what I found.

I downloaded all six files (*.zip.001 through *.zip.006).

For 7-zip to work properly, you need to select the .001 file and unzip it. That will extract everything from all six archives. If you select one of the other files, it will let you unzip, but you will get errors.

For WinRAR to work properly, again, select the .001 file and unzip it. That's the only file that WinRAR recognizes as unzippable. It will unzip all the files, just like 7-zip.

WinZip does not recognize this as a valid unzippable archive. In fact, the file naming format is not what WinZip uses for its multipart files. WinZip will create a base name with a Zip extension, and then create the parts as .z01, .z02, etc. But for testing purposes, I took the unzipped files and created a WinZip multipart (split) archive and it created the zip plus five .z0x files (where x is a one-up number). Like Eddie, I selected a 100MB split point, and it also created six files.

So for anyone wanting to use this UserTrack, your best bet is probably 7-zip, since it's free; however, WinRAR works just fine also.

And the files worked perfectly as UserTracks. I copied them over to my UserTracks folder and selected them in an arrangement. For my quick test, they sounded fine; however, the one thing I did notice is that they seem be louder than the other RealTracks guitars (at least in the style I was working with). I had to reduce the volume significantly compared to the RealTracks volume settings. But otherwise, sounded great.

That's what my latest note in this thread is cautioning about.
Thanks for the checkup, although coincidentally the matter had only just been resolved when you returned...it goes like that in life sometimes, you know smile

Hey, Eddie -

Just for completeness. What did you use to compress the multi-part files in the first place? I was actually surprised that WinZip didn't recognize them as multipart, when WinRAR and 7-zip did.

A mac program called BetterZip...which is the main reason I just presumed that WinZip would then be the best PC counterpart for the decoding.

So was I, I absolutely was not expecting that! smirk
So I have to thank you especially for enlightening us on that .z01 format it uses, which I confess I hadn't heard of (or had forgotten). A very valuable contribution to this whole subject right there cool

I had the very same problem whereby double clicking that zip file would just go into a loop getting windows-zipped files . Double clicking that zip file will only use a window type of unzipper.

You have to Hold your mouse key down on that zip file and also hold the Apple Control key down.

Then from the drop down menu select " Open with " where it will provide you with a selection or choice of Mac OS Apple/Mac unzippers.

Hope my instructions R understandable and solve the problem for you.

However, my question is where do i locate those files ?

If by that you mean where to put them, that's already been answered in one of my replies right here, but:

You put the whole folder into the Usertracks folder, which is inside your Realtracks folder.

p.s. Thanks for chipping in with the Mac aspect of the extraction process.

Yes, I tried in two free programs that I downloaded for Windows 10 from Microsoft and no luck; 'Archiver for Windows' and 'Unpacker'. The bits downloaded so fast, that it might be easier just to download it as one file.

I'll try 7-zip

I hadn't thought of that, maybe simply grabbing the whole folder in one go is the safer way to go, good point. It also seems that 7-Zip is the best tool for the job on the Win front, yes.
And as usual, let me know if you get further problems or have other questions about this set smile
