RealTracks Artist Cory Pesaturo has an exciting weekend ahead of him... he will be attempting to break the world record for Longest Accordion Playing, starting on August 4th!

The record to beat? 31 hours 25 min! Cory has planned to play for 33-36 hours, and we think he can do it!

Check out the announcement and explanation of "world records" here: http://www.accordionusa.com/#art3080. Within this article it does mention that this event is sponsored by Red Bull, and that they will be video taping the entire event - I'm sure they'll be supplying him with Red Bull!

Follow along as Cory attempts to break this record:

Cory's Accordion RealTracks can be found in RealTracks Set 268: Gypsy, Accordion, Piano, and Guitar - learn more about Cory and listen to demos of his RealTracks when you visit his RealTracks Artist Bio page.

That is a long time to play any instrument, especially an accordion!

If I was there at the end I would have yelled "encore", then run for my life grin

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

wow... that's cool.

I was in a record setting attempt, guitar playing marathon, back many years ago. (around 1970) I didn't set any records or even come close but it was fun.

There were some pretty cool prizes for the winner and runners up, plus there was an opportunity to officially set a new world record for longest non-stop guitar playing session.

I hung out long enough to get the free gear giveaway to all who stayed long enough for the minimum of 1 hr. I really needed a new strap and 20' coil cord. The picks and strings were good too for a poor boy trying to play the guitar with a very limited budget in high school.

I hung out for a few hours and watched a band in Cleveland, called Clevelend, play for 100 hours and change to set a record. However, the rules were EXTREMELY liberal... There were sub players allowed. Only one member of the real band roster had to be on the stage at a time. They got to take 10 (I think - it was LONG ago) minutes break per hour, and they were allowed to bank their breaks, so after X number of hours they had banked X x 10 minutes in break time, and they slept. And remember, one by one they were allowed to come off stage, and they could nap then too. As I recall, the drummer quit the band part way through, and they were so zombied out by the end of it they were doing things like playing Old Time Rock And Roll for 20 minutes, Gloria for a half hour.... They had a bar sponsor the thing and they were provided with food and drinks. Radio, TV stations covered it, etc. They did follow the rules, and in fact there was always more than one band roster player on stage. They were a 6 piece band.

And once they finished, and the record was validated, a band somewhere broke that record about a month later. Actually, I think it was one of the dumbest things I ever heard of to beat your body up over having a record for a month.

But hey, I didn't lose any sleep over it. (Get it? Sleep?)

I smashed the hell out of my car today. When the cops came I told him "Officer, that guy was BOTH texting and drinking a beer." The cop said "Sir, he has every right to do that. I mean, it's HIS living room..."

He is a trooper for sure. I can understand why his hands and arms hurt for five days after the event. I think the record will stay with Cory for a long time.

Agreed - I can't see anyone want to try and beat the record, especially if they read this article.

I can't even imagine being sore enough to have to apply ice packs to your arms just to continue playing - what a trooper!
