SIMPLY SUPER - My very latest, fresh out of the oven! cool

Ok, so here's yet another "exercise in form" standard jazz improvisation, with a pretty minimalistic instrumentation where guitar & vibes join forces for centre stage. I've blatantly nicked the chords from the style's own demo, but "re-instrumentated" the lot from my own creativeness in return.
This time around I've turned up the pace a bit, and the outcome is surprisingly pleasing... but in fairness, maybe more so to the fans of the genre than others. In any case, it's a pretty short one so if you hate it, you won't be tortured too long grin

Enjoy!

Formalities, per usual:

Man, that could've gone on and on. Janice was listening and starting the vocals sounds like Hampton did when playing on the late 30's Carnegie Hall recordings. She can mimic about anything smile

We love minimalist recordings -- perfection is not when there's nothing left to add but rather when there is nothing left to take away.

This is a great swing that just cooks and the mix sparkles. The guitar and vibes sound like they've been working together for a long time...like a "real" band. That upright bass (my instrument) is perfecto.

Kudos!!

Oh my, that's some big compliments right there, thank you. And if by Hampton you meant as in Lionel, then that is indeed a very favourable reference, for I absolutely adored that player!
As for it could "go on and on", then I personally agree, and I had to hold myself back to resist the urge to rack up the soloists. But, as with the minimalistic instrumentation, sometimes less is more..or as you yourself put it:

Yes, Lionel Hampton in the amazing 1938 Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall concert recording that was recorded via a telephone line to a studio. The quality is incredible and when Hampton solos you can hear him making some eh-eh-eh-eh vocals sounds as he plays. That's what Janice was scatting on your song.

Hey!,

Love it! O agree with everything Bud said. I used to listen to Lionel Hampton on vibes and comedian Steve Allen on jazz piano jamming out. It was musical heaven, And this is reminiscent of that time and music. Nicely done - a real pleasure to my ears!

Cool vibes. Enjoying this one.
What I particularly like about BIAB is that it's that just listening to the demos is quite inspiring.
The demo obviously inspired you to create this enjoyable little piece.

Inspiring is a very good word here, for I think this is at least the third song I've made in a short time that have been brought on simply by the sounds of what's already there. Some have admittedly used quite a good chunk nearly unchanged while others have been more of a jumping board into the unknown, but that's just what's so great about this thing - you never know what part of it is going to "inspire" you or where that'll then actually lead you. Thanks for the positive feedback cool

p.s. Your nick seems new to me (which is great, always nice to catch the ears of new people), so now I'm in the process of "checking your likes & tracks". This far it's all sounding drastically different from this little jazz piece here, making me wonder how on earth you ended up liking mine in the first place! grin
