No problem at all John. Personally I think the strength of the Chandelier is the song itself. That and the fact that it was recorded in a million dollar studio with million dollar arrangers and engineers, with million dollar plugins...

Yeah, you are probably right on all counts about Chandelier.

Slightly off the topic...but now that I have listened to several of your songs over at SongTradr.com would you mind me asking how you like that? I have sold instrumentals at Audio Jungle but the competition there is so fierce that only a few sales straggle in every month! Plus, I'd like to produce some songs with vox too and they wouldn't work well at Audio Jungle.

Do they charge you to submit? Do they require their approval of your submissions?

It is very cheap to submit. $4 buys you loads of credits.

There are two types of opportunities. "Deals" and "music wanted". Deals are for blanket type licenses and libraries. Here is a compilation album that one of my songs appears on. http://www.deezer.com/track/399901362

The payment terms for these varies.

Music wanted are for specific opportunities for specific clients and tend to look more lucrative that deals. They can pay up to $1000 to use your song in a movie or advert etc. the songs submitted to these opps need to be very specific to the brief (otherwise you will probably get a bad name!) and I am sure there is loads of competition for these.

They review each song submitted and then shortlist, then send to the music supervisor for final selection, then license.

So far, my songs have only been licensed for deals but I currently have 2 in final selection for music wanted.

Thanks for the info Joanne. I was wondering how licensing worked. I'll have to look into that site.

On another note, I decided to turn the little instrumental I made yesterday into a full blown song. Here's the link for the Shocase thread it's under.

Great Samuel. Let me know how it goes. Just had a listen to your latest. I think it would be good for licensing.

The song above Oh by The way was done with the use of BIAB and I ran across it as I am remastering for an album.

As stated in the original post, BIAB was with me all the way through.

1.) I wrote piano riff.

2.) I use chord wizard to tell me what chords I was playing.

3.) I used those chords to form the backbone of the structure, but embellishing and inverting for the chorus.

4.) I used a BIAB style to give me a start (see OP) then added my own synth parts, and a few extra guitars in places.

I was not going for "modern" I was going for "David Snyder" but I am pretty happy with the results and there is no way I could have pulled this off without Band in a Box.

Pretty clear that is a good job, Samuel. It takes some doing to get
'these guys to spring to their feets, but you did.
Ever hear Mike Henderson?

We've listened to him from the 1990's to the Steel Drivers to his return to the blues. He's an amazing musician and some of his youtube videos have John Jarvis on piano.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
