This is the first song I have covered from another BIAB artist.

This is Alan David's First to Say Goodbye. I absolutely love this song--when I heard it, I didn't hear country, I heard Ray Charles. Have fun! smile

The First To Say Goodbye

(v1)

We both know this love of ours, ended long ago
But we just keep hanging on, why we just don’t know
We can’t seem to find the will or the way, to simply let it die
And neither of us wants to be, the first to say goodbye

CHORUS

There’s no way to resurrect a love that’s gone this bad
We’ll never find the love and joy or laughter we once had
So I guess we’ll spend another day, of living this old lie
Cause neither of us wants to be, the first to say goodbye.

V2

There’s no reason we should be, together anymore
One of us should pack our bags, and take them to the door
Instead we kid ourselves once more, and give it one more try
When either one of us should be, the first to say goodbye.

REPEAT CHORUS

What an awesome song David. This is a very cool lyric and backtrack. Super vocal and interpretation of the song. Very cool idea covering another forum members tune. The ultimate complement

David

Very nice cover of Alan's song (which I just listened to was on holiday when it came out).
Liked them both and great to see a forum members song covered in a different style.
Nicely done.

First of all, cool concept doing a cover of a song written by another forum member!

I must have missed this post by Alan, man, what a great write! Very emotive lyrics.

And the way you interpret them with your vocal style is brilliant.

Loved it!

We’ve had fun interpreting one of Gruve’s songs and several of floyd’s. Another positive aspect of this forum.

And this is an example of how two seemingly disparate members in style can create product that is new but has characteristics of each contributor.

It’s a nice write and one can always count on you to deliver a heartfelt and soulful vocal. And wrap it up in a fine arrangement and production.

Janice has said several times that you remind her of Hayes Carll (a good thing) and she immediately mentioned it when listening to this. He’s a great Americana artist with a wry sense of humor like you! Our fav album by him is KMAG YOYO.

Enjoyed it!

Cool!

It is cool to hear a David Snyder interpretation of an Alan David song.

A vary expressive vocal. Nice instrumentation. You did not list a piano RT - did you play that?

Nice.

Hey David,

I'm finally here to listen and comment. I just tried to leave you a comment on SC ... but the page froze up. Will get back over there in a minute.

It's always the ultimate complement when a fellow musician covers your song. I am honored and most pleased with your rendition! This is really cool! I'm gonna have to buy me a new St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap now ... the one I've had for years no longer fits!

Your vocals always are so heartfelt and you excelled on this recording. Love the full arrangement. Again, many thanks and thank you for the honor. Standing "O"!

Wishing you and yours the very best. God Bless.

Alan

PS: Di says "Hi David! Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes." (My sentiments, too).

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
