So we all know that BIAB always comes out for Windows at least six months before the Mac version. I think that if it takes that much time to complete the Mac version, I think we should get a completely redesigned version for the Mac.

Ideas for BIAB 2018 for Mac:
1. BIAB as a plugin for Logic Pro X- Since we will never get Real Band for Mac, I think BIAB 2018 should also be a plugin for Mac users only.

2. 64-bit version of BIAB- I know Windows users will hate me for requesting, but this should be included.

3. Smart MIDI- I would like to see BIAB 2018 include a feature that analyzes your melody with the chords you have entered into BIAB and selects the based inversions for your song.

4. Mac only Real Tracks- So I think that the Mac version should get some exclusive real set like shuffle reggae, synth funk, island country, reggae horns, soca real tracks,
even 3/4 tracks etc.

5. More the four chords- I think Mac users should be aloud to input more four chords in a measure.

6. Mac only GUI

7. 24bit 44.1k

If these features are not included then I will never upgrade again.

We even don't have the feature in the Windows version.
So for the Mac version...but stay optimistic...

All people posting in the wishlist forum would see their request become reality. But there are so many many items in the wishlist. So my recommendation is to be patient.

May I also include/wish that the Mac version should at the very least include ALL those add on's and extra's with no additional charge to somehow make up for the differences in the two versions.

I will continue updating and purchasing the Mac version of the Band because i am sure after 30+ years of purchasing the Mac Band i must have at least one hundred dollars smile plus in PG software.

By the way, anyone need some floppy disks ?

All in all MR PG and his team are doing a good job to balance the different operating systems with their Mac and Windows versions. I am sure it must be a nightmare to try to blend the two versions. And maybe what works great in one system just can't be replicated in another system no matter how brilliant the programmer may be.

My two cents on this thread:

You actually got some good ideas suggested in the mix there, but the tone of your post here works against you, not for you, so people may overlook the good bits. Keep in mind that it matters how you say things, so be careful to not spoil good ideas with a bad, aggressive presentation!
My advices for you on that:

1. Stop asking for "special" treatment just because you're on a Mac (this isn't the first time you do that on here), it only makes the problem worse, not better. What we need is Equality, not special treatment.

2. Having said that, try to remember: It isn't "Us against Them", and it most definitely isn't a competition where one has to beat the other!!

Thank goodness words aren't knives.

Ok, I'm sorry for my complaing, but I don't know about the Windows version.

You can absolutely make suggestions for features or functions without talking about the need for them to be 'specially' for Mac.

If the 2018 version of BIAB for the Mac is not 64 bit, there is no reason for it to be released.

Apple announced long ago that OS 10.14 should be released in late 2018 and that support for 32 bit will be dropped.

Of course, I’d like it to do a few more things but 64 bit is the only one that’s important to me. It’s long overdue.

That in on itself is hardly a valid argument, if you ask me, since people won't necessarily be using that particular system for a good while after its release, let alone straight away.
Just look at me for instance, here I am still running a perfectly adequate, hassle-free 10.6 for nearly 10 years and happy as a camper smile

Not that a 64 bit BBox wouldn't be nice, but that's for entirely different reasons than this.

That’s just silly.

Apple announced the move to 64 bit years ago and will be 64 bit only later this year. Any company releasing a 32 bit only paid upgrade is being irresponsible.

Many of us working professionals must remain current and not running the latest OS is not an option. The latest security flaws in Intel architecture require being current if nothing else (OS 10.13.2 has already been patched for the one making the current noise but what’s next?).

Disagree if you like but you are not I and I’m not wrong on this.

Now as to a feature request, it would be great if the Audiophile libraries of BIAB could be downloaded. There is no reason it needs to be shipped on a USB drive that I will use exactly once. If NI can make Komplete downloadable, so can PG Music.

That's a bit rich, coming from someone who makes blanket statements like "If the 2018 version of BIAB for the Mac is not 64 bit, there is no reason for it to be released.", and "You are not I (*sic) and I’m not wrong on this." crazy

))) Apple announced long ago that OS 10.14 should be released in late 2018 and that support for 32 bit will be dropped.

I think that’s only for apps in the App Store, not external apps like Band-in-a-Box.
There are lots of legacy 32 bit Mac apps out there. Your signature mentions your OS 9 legacy apps, so I assume that’s welcome news for you.

I expect Apple will update the OS at some point to prevent 32 bit apps of all kinds from running. There will first likely be a period of “app shaming” where the OS displays a cryptic message about how this app needs to be updated and may slow down your machine. (Note the irony in that message, when the OS X Intel-security-fix update itself might slow down your machine ).

Have Fun!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
