[Link no longer valid]

You are in a 1960's smoky jazz lounge having a drink with your girl, dancing, and listening to the band. Every so often the band has to take a break. This is that moment.

I am playing the tenor via my wind controller and BiaB is playing everything else.

BiaB style = Vintage Stripper-Raucus Clu. I made no modifications to the style: it comes at you straight out of the box!

I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Mario.

You certainly have captured that mood.

It's amazing how much expression you achieve with that wind controller.
It sounds absolutely authentic. Super track.

Going back into the club for another listen!

Great job here, Mario! Smoky is definitely a fitting adjective - it has a sultry sort of mood to it, and a fantastic groove to boot. What you did here with your wind controller is outstanding.

Thanks so much for sharing smile

Thanx Rog. Expression is why I decided to purchase a wind controller. I got tired of those static sax sounds via MIDI so I got the wind controller to input my own nuances.

Thanx Rob. Back in the days I had to get my asthma meds in prior to playing in a joint like that. That was one of the reasons I went into wedding bands, i.e. much better environment, clientele, and pay!

Always generously tip the waitress or bartender on your first drink and they will take care of you for the rest of the night. Been there - done that way to many times!

Thanx Deryk. Adding expression is the main reason I purchased the EWI-USB. Also this MIDI BiaB style is one of the best IMHO. Much better strings and piano in this style than many others IMHO.

There's trouble with the band!
The drummer got drunk and passed out
The rhythm guitarist took a girl out to the car, don't know why
The bass player is stoned on weed
and the five people in the audience don't give a damn about the band!

Sounds real to me!

I've got a USB EWI, and I love woodwinds on it... with the exception of the sax. If I had the SampleModeling library it would probably help a lot, but I can't justify the price, since I've got an actual sax sitting unplayed in the corner. (Every time I go to practice it, it seems my wife is trying to take a nap).

Anyway, thanks for posting.

Thanx David. Having a sax player say my MIDI sax sounds real means a lot to me. I do have the SampleModeling sax library as I found that to be the most realistic, but that is the only library of theirs that I own. I like the EWI on flutes also. Actually any monophonic instruments is enhanced with a wind controller IMHO.

PS - get that sax out and play!

I don't want to give the wrong impression - I'm more a wannabe player. I can honk out notes, but that's about it. But it's enough that when I try the sax sounds from the libraries I've got on the EWI, they are worlds away from real thing. So I'm impressed when someone can get past that really obvious "fake sax" sound.

Quote:

I really should focus on getting a bit less awful on the trumpet first.

I'd hoped to convince one of my kids to pick up the sax, but that didn't fly. I think the big problem is that the sax really isn't a quiet instrument. My kids are shy about learning new things, and would rather not have people listen to them practice.

The sax does not lend itself to quiet practice! At least trumpets have mutes. Have you seen what a sax mute looks like?

But thanks for the encouragement!

David, maybe you could try this sax mute:

PS - when I was a teen living home I found out that both a trumpet and a guitar were not quite instruments!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
