I have an alias of Band in a Box 2017 Audiophile application on my desktop.
When i double click that alias it does not launch Band in a Box. There is a momentary attempt for my OS to launch the application but it just fails.
I installed/updated with the Mac update 202 and it still will not launch.
Prior to this update I checked the typical Mac "about" within Band in a Box and it tells me BinaB is up to date. So much for the programme and Band in a Box PG keeping us up to date.
This somewhat takes away from the use of Mac launching programmes such as Launch Bar.
A very crude work around here for me is to go to the application folder in the Band in a Box Audiophile 2 TB USB drive supplied by PG and double click the application/programme.
Incidentally, my Mac OS is also OS 10.13.2 i just forgot to update my Band in a Box profile

Hi Mike, Perhaps I'm not seeing where you're referring, but I don't see a "Mac Update 202" anywhere in the page to which you referred. Latest update I see is "update 186" listed for Dec. 2nd, which I downloaded. I started another thread today with my concern about updating to High Sierra due to BiaB not running, though I'd like to take advantage of Logic 10.4 with tons of new features. Unfortunately, I have El Capitan OS on my MacBook, which will not update to 10.4. I'll need High Sierra for that. Suggestions, please?
High Sierra broke a lot of alias paths. To rebuild them, do a Safe Boot by holding the Shift Key. When done, reboot normally.
If the alias still doesn’t work, trash it and create another.
Thank you Mr. Mike Halloran,
Excellent tip. Restarting in Safe Boot restarts with " all extensions off " trick i used many a time in those OS 9 days.
Not sure where you found that update you mentioned.
Perhaps you could provide us with a new url ?
My macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 is actually at 10.13.3 just forgot to update PG's data.
I have discovered that I can startup my Mac Band application by placing an alias in the Dock. The original application is located in the Audiophile USB. It would be interesting to me if others here could confirm that and perhaps offer some thoughts why that works.
The other odd problem i am still having is that if i double click a band file it does not launch Band in a Box application. I have to first launch the Band application from the dock and then when the Band is running i can double click a band file.

I don’t remember why I wrote 202. Perhaps I was mistaken but I remember runnng a patch b that name. Maybe it was another app.
Yes, Safe Boot used to be called Rebuilding the Desktop—which it still does besides resetting paths and repairing Alias icons.
Glad you got it running.
I take care of a large number of Macs. On some of them, I had to reinstall the OS to fix annoying things. Not every system installed properly the first time including my own. I would try booting into the Repair Partition or downloading the complete installer from the App Store.
Note that, if you have a boot drive or partition available with an earlier OS, you cannot boot into the Repair Partitin in High Sierra. Many users think that there is none because of this. I have an external drive with El Cap on it that needs to be powered down and disconnected before I can see the one on my High Sierra drive.
Anyway, I found this out when a couple of Adobe apps didn’t behave so, out of frustration, I did a complete reinstall (of 10.13.1 at the time). Not only did the Adobe apps come back but if fixed things I didn’t know were broken. I have heard similar reports from some of my fellow wizards.

Would running macOSUpdCombo10.13.2.dmg work as a reinstall ?
No. Running the 10.13.3 Combo update might fix a few things but it’s not an OS reinstall.
You can
a) download the OS from the App Store and run that. Normally, this is easier and gets th job done
B) If you have to run Disk Utility before an OS reinstall, this is the way to go.: Hold the Option key while booting. Select the 10.13 Repair Partition and double-click or Enter. Once in the Repair drive, select Reinstall the OS from the menu. If you have a drive or partition running an earlier OS anywhere on your system, you will not be able to do this. If you see a Repair partition that shows an earlier OS and not 10.13, this will not work.
Neither method will erase your drive or damage your files but you do want to back up your system before doing either.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
