Any of you who have given your undivided attention to Ms. Belladonna's posts to the User's Forum should already know that she writes lyrics you can see, taste, feel, hear, and smell. She conjures up a sense a place, of time, and reveals character with an economy of poetic expression that I personally find stunning. The lyrics she dreamed up for "Bottom Dollar Blues" were so electrifying to me that the music came to me almost immediately upon reading them. This is my second collaboration with a User's Forum member, and it was absolutely, positively, e-x-h-i-l-a-r-a-t-i-n-g . Ms. Belladonna, you are an artist. Thank you for allowing me to keep the ad-libs! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1321235&songID=13686052Style is _BCJO110.STY (Boom Chick Joe Train Guitars 110) Key = Ab, Tempo @ 120, Meter = 4/4 8 bar intro. Hey Loren, nice version of the song on Donna's lyrics. Really loved the brush percussion. Your vocal blended with the song greatly. Keep 'em coming!

Loren, I like the way your vocal gives the train sound a jazzy feel... and the ad-libs at the end are nicely done. Enjoyed!

LOREN,
Really nice job on that.
A very engaging vocal - a lot of feeling.
Nice musical bed for this. All well mixed. I liked how you brought the fiddle and banjo in the raise the heat a bit.
(I'm hearing the vocal panned to the left. Is that intentional?)
Well done. Enjoyed.

Loren what a great take on the song. Really brought my lyrics to life. Music and vocal style adds so much to the story of lyrics. Thank you so much for putting your personal touch on these lyrics. I have been pleased and impressed by all the talent on this site.

Very enjoyable Loren.
Had the feel to me of something I might hear in a speakeasy in the 1920's. You make the backing sound more jazzy. Good one.
Cheers.

Hello, Mr. Sslechta... Yeah, that brush percussion really kept that country train rhythm chugging on down the track, didn't it ? Thank you for listening, and thank you for your comments. Sincerely, LOREN

Dear "robertkc"... Well, you can take the boy out of jazz, but you can't take the jazz out of the boy, eh ??? I wasn't trying to do that intentionally, but I'm pleased that it pleased you. Truly, LOREN

Mr, Snyder... You're the second person who felt the song has a "jazz" feel to it . But...but I was trying to sing a country song (sniff, blubber, wail) !!! But then, come to think of it, those "country train" RealTracks and Real Drums could be said truly to raise some jazz dust, huh? Thank you, Mr. Snyder! LOREN

Mr. Jane... I'm particularly grateful for your comment about the "mix" because whatever I did to earn your approval I learned entirely from User's Forum members such as yourself. The fiddle and banjo solos did "raise the heat a bit", didn't they? Had me clapping my hands to all that joyful noise. Should have recorded it. That left-panned vocal wasn't intentional. In the recording audio track I selected "stereo" output, but the sound came out of the left speaker. Was going to correct it, hopefully, by playing around with the "audio in" options, and then re-record the vocal, but the first take exhausted me because I am not used to singing notes that high and --truth be told -- I'm as lazy as all get-out !!! Thanks for your close listening, Mr. Jane. I appreciate it! Sincerely, LOREN

My dear Ms. Belladonna...
Well, thank YOU for allowing me to live in the world -- if only for three minutes and twenty seconds -- that your lively, finely realized lyrics for "Bottom Dollar Blues" created. Because of them, I discovered that I have another musical soul inside of me.
Most sincerely and respectfully,
LOREN

Hi, there, "RichMac"...
And yet another listener who likened what they heard to jazz!
Glad it sounded that way to you, "RichMac"!
I'm grateful to you for listening to it.
LOREN

Wow - I thoroughly enjoyed this! I love how you kept it minimalist, and gave the voice room to breathe. Not to mention, the groove on this is wild! I was tapping my foot the whole way through. I would have never thought something could be a little jazzy and country-ish at the same time, and come out this well! Great work, and thanks so much for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
