...or something like that. This is some serious country music. It was intentionally kept a little more country sounding. It still rocks in a country way of course. See what you think. I listened to Joanne Cooper's song "Diamond Blue Eyes" about a girl who can't seem to break the cycle she was stuck in with guys, and it gave me the inspiration to write this. It's called: That's How The Story Ends The band is: Bass 518 Drums Nashville even 8 Guitars 362 & 365 acoustic Fiddle 1760 Mando 1876 Steel 2540 & 2824 B3 689 All guitar fills and lead is live. One vocal track with no layers and no harmony. (huh?) Have a listen. Comment if you wish. Lyrix: I saw her walk in take a seat at the bar order a drink, check the clock, lay down the keys to her car. She looked like she was waiting, for someone to walk throught that door Stares at the ring on her finger, it doesn't matter anymore. There's a promise bout to break, it's love she can not fake She'll tell herself again, she can keep him just as friends welcome to the dark side, of lies and deceit. She plays that role one more time ... that's how the story ends She leaves her drink on the counter grabs her bag and heads to the door with a change of mind and a change of heart, she's not playing that role anymore there's too much to lose in a game she knows she'll never win be careful about walking on water when the ice is so thin There's a promise bout to break, it's love she can not fake She'll tell herself again, she can keep him just as friends welcome to the dark side, of lies and deceit. She plays that role one more time ... that's how the story ends

Herb this is absolutely fantastic. Great lyrics and a super vocal along with a super mix, you have just raised the bar for country songs!
I an not a big fan of the new Nashville country but I do like country like this.
Extremely well done and it's a keeper.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

This took a few days to write and mix.... I was making fixes and changes up to and even after I posted it.... in fact this is the latest version. Thanks

Herb, I enjoyed the story - details held my interest and well its real country, so we know there`s a truth coming in the chorus-you make it a good one! I guess you could add harmonies but it has a live band sound to it this way. I agree wth Mario-this is my kind of country.

Herb this truly is real Country Music! You always offer interesting lyrics and produce a great sound! I like the way you made use of multiple instruments coming in and out to make this one happen! Thanks, Torrey

Herb. This is just awesome. Loved the story. So glad my “Diamond Blue Eyes” inspired this great country song. When that chorus comes in it is just like sweet honey. Now you have inspired me to write a country song for FAWM. Thanks

An excellent composition. Nicely played and performed. A good catchy chorus and really nice choices for the instrumentation.

It's a really good tune Herb. The lyrics are pretty perfect IMO for a story song. Really good all around.
Peace,
Ian

Robert Robert, I've always been a fan of the story songs. And I really love the country that used to play in the radio in the 70's and 80's.... Thanks for listening

Thanks, Torrey Thanks for listening. The production is all in Sonar and I use automated volume envelopes in every track. It makes editing the fills and other things just so easy. And, it also lets me fade the endings perfectly.

Now you have inspired me to write a country song for FAWM. Thanks JC.... yep, you never know what's going to spark the imagination for the next song. Sadly, I knew way to many girls with Diamond Blue Eyes through the years. "When that chorus comes in it is just like sweet honey." I like that.... might be a song hiding in that quote somewhere..... Thanks for commenting ...

Peter Peter, the hardest thing in mixing like I do it, is to decide what instrument to use because they all sound so good and fit so well. It takes discipline to pull those sweet tracks down..... Thanks for listening

Peace,
Ian Ian, I took your advice and played the guitar on this one. I still "cheated" on the acoustics for the sake of time. Seems so hard to get free time to do what absolutely needs to be done let alone having the time to do things I like to do. Thanks for dropping in on this

Wow - you nailed this! It reminds of old school country from the 70's. It sounds sincere and heartfelt - you can really hear the passion in both the instrumental and the vocals. I also really found the lyrics helped push it to the next level. You did an amazing job writing this. It makes it really relatable. Great job here, and thanks so much for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

I don't much like country songs, but if I have to listen to one, this would be high on my list Beautiful melancholy melody, great arrangement and excellent mix, that bass is really strong. Janne

Really strong lyrics most people can relate to. Nice layering of textures with the fiddle and the pedal steel. Good job.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

I love that old school Bob McDill composed country music. Now that we're finally moved in at the farm and getting settled, I will have time to write and record quite a bit more than I did during last year. I was so busy moving, and getting things done here on the farm getting ready for the house and everything else that was going on..... I don't think I even turned on my DAW from late spring until the fall..... But, I'm back..... as Jack Nicholson said in one of his movies.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
