Lyrics

It's Not Me

Verse 1
Walking around
Hearing your sound
Lost in time
Writing this rhyme.
Feeling your touch
Having your say
Never too much
Maybe just stay.

Chorus
Can’t you see?
It’s not me
It’s only you
That won’t be true.
Why do I try?
Why don’t I go?
Why do I cry?
Loving you so.

Verse 2
Look at the sky
Maybe we’ll try
I’ll be fine
Give it time
Where I’m bound
Had my fill
Lost then found
Paying the bill.

Bridge
She’s sometimes shouting
She’s always sad
He’s often working
He’s often mad.
She’s sometimes crying
She’s not to blame
He’s often lying
He’s not the same.

Verse 3
Gently you hush
Always a rush
When I don’t know
Love you don’t show.
Show you care
Never free
Heart so bare
When you’re with me

Neil,

Very well done.

The opening rhythm guitar was a good way to start. The piano is nicely mixed. The choice of e piano and sax as solo instruments worked well...

Your vocal is nice. Well recorded and mixed.

An enjoyable listen.

I agree with all that Floyd said. This is an easy listen - relatively soft, yet has a drive. Nicely done!. Wish I had a soft, pleasant voice like yours!

I really enjoyed this smile It's wonderfully catchy, and shows a great grasp of songwriting. It has a great groove that's easy to tap your foot to. I loved the solos used here. It makes it have a very 80's vibe.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Deryk

Very nicely done.
Maybe a little more vocal compression for aging
ears that might have lost some auditory acuity...
oh, not mine, mind you, mine are fine...:)

Thanks all. Now if I could only get Song 2, 3 and 4 finished. So far only lyrics and riffs.

As all said "...relatively soft, yet has a drive..." And the word catchy has been used. And we agree with all of the above!

Nice!

Really nice work here! Great lyrics.

One technical tweak, the vocals are ALMOST in that perfect sweet spot cradle, but off just a hair.

I think with minor EQ-ing adjustments, this could be getting close to "radio ready." If you want more expansive commentary, maybe we could figure out a way for me to transmit that info.

It's on the one yard line, mix wise though.

smile

Great job.

Nice work. The cool thing about the FAWM thing is it forces people to write more than they normally would.

Looking forward to more.

PS.... I'd put a bit of reverb on the vocals to let them set in the mix a bit smoother.

Thanks everyone. Yes David, please tell me. I'd value your experience etc. Guitarhacker, I'm not big on reverb normally but you're probably right. Edshaw, compression! Probably would have been a good idea if I knew how to use it properly. I'm such a complete novice when it comes to mixing.

Actually, I want to redo all my vocals on every BIAB song I've written. What I really need is somewhere soundproofed, relaxed and comfortable so I can really sing. Almost impossible in my life in Hong Kong. I may just get a dozen or so songs ready and go into a studio just to do vocals. Still, FAWM is really good for me and has nudged me out of my stupor.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
