CAGE I wrote this song today as part of a FAWM challenge. I really like how it turned out and wanted to share it with all my fellow BIAB users here. The challenge was to use the chords of your song to spell out the title or theme of your song. Being that there are only 8 chord letters (and maybe a few others if you get creative with your chords) it really is quite an interesting and challenging concept. I decided to use CAGE as my inspiration. Not 4 chords that you hear used all together very often but it actually came out very nice I think. I decide that the chord structure for this tune called for more of a rock feel. So I found a kind of indie rock style that worked and ran with it. Hope you enjoy. Style: _UKBIGRK.STY Rock w/ Crisp & Fuzz Guitars RealTracks: 683:Bass, Electric, Pop Half Notes Push 405: Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming 1000:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Hard Rock LA Fuzz Held 998: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Hard Rock LA Crisp Sync 2688: Guitar, Electric Soloist Rock Brent Simple Real Drums = Nashville Even 8 Lyrics: I feel like I’m stuck in a cage. I feel like I can’t get away. I need to get out of here. I need to stop living in fear. I wanna jump the sun and ride the moon. I wanna go too far and get there to soon. I wanna ride a rocket ship into outer space So don’t treat me like a rat and lock me away. I feel like I’m stuck in a cage. I feel like I can’t get away. I need to get out of here. I need to stop living in fear. I wanna go around the world in 80 days. I wanna be a criminal and save the day. So don’t put me on a shelf and throw away the key Just open up the door and set me free. (Solo) I feel like I’m stuck in a cage. I feel like I can’t get away. I feel like I’m stuck in a cage. I feel like I can’t get away.

It is amazing to me that you and and a few others can produce a quality song in such a short amount of time!
This is great, a good rock write, great vocal. Nice mix too, and the "band" is hot.

This particular style of song really suits you! This is also a really cool challenge, and I'd love to see more people participating in it! Awesome job.
Cheers, Ember

This is great, especially given the time-compressed writing challenge. Very nice rock vibe!

Man I never thought of that CAGE chord progression. But I'm sure going to use it now. This reminds me a lot of Country "Nirvana." And by that, I mean this is seriously cool man!!! If you keep going like this, you could end up being the Kurt Cobain of country. Good job.

This really good. Great groove with super vocals. The lyrics are super and the mix is perfect.
This is a keeper.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Samuel.
Like that chord progression. Certainly sounds punky. This is the line i like best.
I wanna go too far and get there too soon
Good FAWM song. Best wishes with the rest of them.
Cheers.

Thanks everybody for listening. I appreciate your comments. Man I never thought of that CAGE chord progression. But I'm sure going to use it now. This reminds me a lot of Country "Nirvana." Yeah, I never would have thought of it either had it not been for this challenge but I'm glad I did. I think it works well for this. I definitely had some Nirvana grunge influence going through my head while working on this.

Lot's of goodness here even without consideration of the FAWM time constraints.
It all came together for you. The cool somewhat different progression works really well and, man, those vocals are nailed. The RT's sound like a band that has spent some time together and are all hittin' the note. We enjoyed it!

Wow - you nailed this! Within the first few measures, I knew I'd be liking this one. The song has so much charisma and energy behind it - it makes me feel amped! Not to mention your vocal performance is truly next level. I wouldn't bat an eyelash hearing this on the radio. You made a great song here - thanks for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

Cool rocker, and clever idea of a way to find a chord progression....IT WORKED!! Wonderful vocal on this.. hear some Sammy Hagar. Really nicely done in every way! I particularly like this:
I wanna jump the sun and ride the moon. I wanna go too far and get there to soon.
Very cool lyrics! Enjoyed! Take care. Greg

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
