Hi,

A friend sent me this link last night, and I thought some of you might enjoy it.

Pick a decade (1900-now) and mood (fast, slow, and weird), and click on a country on the world map, and it starts playing music from that time and place. I got stuck on here for a while, did my dishes to the 70s "weird" selections from India.

What a great find. Certainly a very versatile and wide ranging selection. Could way too easily get hooked...

Might be a good research tool. I love to listen to Brazilian music of the late 50s, early 60s.

Me too!

Apparently Chinese and middle eastern music from the 60s and 70s is a lot cooler than I'd thought as well.

I'm definitely going to listen to this when I get home.

This reminds me a bit vaguely of MoodFuse.com. It lets you put in your genre you're looking for, energy level, happiness level, and dance-ability level and matches you up with songs that meet your requirements. It's kind of nifty. I think yours is definitely the cooler find, though. Searching music by decades and country -- that's definitely something I'm going to have to dive in to later. That sort of thing always fascinated me.

Edit:: looks like moodfuse is down for maintenance/having some issues right now, though. Sad!

Moodfuse told me "invalid access token".

I smashed the hell out of my car today. When the cops came I told him "Officer, that guy was BOTH texting and drinking a beer." The cop said "Sir, he has every right to do that. I mean, it's HIS living room..."

Well - there goes an hour of my night after work. Seriously - just spent 2 minutes there out of curiosity and I can see this becoming addictive. Great find!

Oh wow! That is fun. Interesting to listen to what they have for South Africa and Zimbabwe!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
