I wanted to try to run Biab as an alternative even on my notebook. I installed Biab in the notebook and I copied in a custom path Drum, Drum-demo, Realtracks, Realtracks-demo folders I had on the desktop. I did not want to install all the Realtracks in the notebook but copy them from the desktop. I then changed the settings in the Preferences / Drums and Preferences / Realtracks to my custom path for Realdrums and Realtracks. When I open My song Biab not found the realtrack and realdrums copied from descktop.
If you just copy the RealTracks folder over from one computer to the other, the RealTracks will not work. Your RealTracks need to actually be installed on that computer, otherwise you'll be missing styles, as well as all the ST2 and XT2 files that the RealTracks require.
If you really want to copy things over instead of installing, you'll need to copy over the entire BB folder, but installing normally is still your best bet, by far.
....If you really want to copy things over instead of installing, you'll need to copy over the entire BB folder.....
what should I copy? which folders? I want to try this road ... the installation is very boring ....
You copy the \BB folder and everything within it. However, you will have better chance of success if you run the Installer. What about fonts? You cannot just copy those, and they are not in the \BB folder at all. However, the Installer will do all of this correctly.
BIAB & RB2024 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
This will take longer than installing (copying the folder to an external drive, then copying from the drive to the new computer), and things might not work perfectly right away, but that's your best bet if you really don't want to install. You'd still have to install Band-in-a-Box itself as well, to make sure you get your fonts and plugins.
I'd still highly recommend just installing the software normally, it's likely to save you some headaches and wouldn't much extra time, if any.

The PC can do this while I sleep !!
However, I find it strange that I have to copy the whole bb folder and then I have to overwrite the program files too and that there is no real separation between the program and the data
Casak, there is a lot to learn if you want to do things manually.
BiaB includes Fonts. Font registrations are handled by the operating system, not the BiaB program.
Complex programs like BiaB could not exist without operating system interaction. Also, the file locations and more need to be stored so that the O/S knows about these.
Let the Installer work this out for you. That's what it's for.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
