Hi all. This song was written for songtradr. They wanted a song that mentioned spring flowers and blooms. I thought I would contrast spring with death and renewal.I also wanted to evoke emotion. In the end I wasn't successful. This is a step away from my normal write. All comments and suggestions welcome. Rob

What Love Brings

Daddy bought some roses in the spring of 65 and laid them at the head of Mamma's grave.

She'd been fighting off the cancer on a Saturday she died.
It was a sorry thing to end that way.

I feel the spring time breezes as they warmed the bitter air.
Apple blossoms float around and seem so unaware.

Rays of light creep through the trees and warmed my ailing heart.
Ive been hoping for the spring and what love brings.

I really like the songs made with this style, especially the acoustic guitar #2914 fits nicely your peaceful melodic ballad. Great performance and lyrics, I can feel the spring time breeze here also smile

Rob,

This is nice. Haven't heard you do anything like this before.

A good write. Really nice arrangement - works well for the song and its subject matter. Good mix.

Your vocal is really nice - emotional.

Well done.

Most different indeed but the contrast, as you mentioned, is really well done. There is assuredly a "heavy" feel to it but the hints of renewal are most effective.

Very creative and, as always, well performed.

Rob,
I guess you meant you weren`t successful with Songtradr- you certainly were in evoking emotion...there`s sadness in both lyrics and your vocal.
I enjoyed this reflective side of your music.
Well done on the production too.

Good one Rob.

Love the lyrics and your vocal suits perfectly.
A touch of early Johnny Cash in this one.
Thumbs up from here.

Cheers.

Wow - what a powerful tune smile Your vocal delivery and the lyrics are flawlessly executed here. It is incredibly sad, but I love how raw and emotional it is. The tune almost has a dream-like quality to it as well, I found.

Great work on this - thanks so much for sharing!

Nice one Rob. It reminds me a little of Gordon Lightfoot. Excellent writing and vocal. I enjoyed my listen, Tom

Nice. I enjoy all your work, but I think you should do some more of this style. It does suit you well. I agree with Tom, there is a little Gordon Lightfoot in this, and that's a good thing. I like this one.

Hello, Rob

A beautiful melody reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel's "Feelin' Gloovy" is wonderful.
Unlike usual rock and roll style, your fork style song is also very nice.
Your vocal is really comfortable us usual.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Different than what I'm used to hearing from you, but very good.

I see both Tom and Steve mentioned Gordon Lightfoot, I'm hearing a bit of that too, both in the write and the vocal.

Nice arrangement too and the mix sounds good.

Good song, enjoyed the listen!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
