Give me a couple more years to get all the way to rap with the **** and the ***** every other word. I don't call women and black people the names they are called in those songs, so it would also be badly out of character for me to try.

"Today's Sound" that Charlie is referring to is not just rap. In his case I doubt it even includes that. There is plenty of Pop music (all of which is "Today's Sound") that does not go to the places you are talking about.

I spent a few hours today creating a loop based song in Studio One Pro, then writing a lyric for it, recording that and mixing. It includes loops that I downloaded today (free loops), loops that are included in Studio One and loops from the BIAB folders. All loops, nothing else.... so that gave me a sound that is totally different than my usual...

Charlie and Floyd, great job stepping up. You both, no doubt, get "it." I think some really cool things may come out of all of this because of people like you.

Floyd-you nailed it. Today's sound is NOT only rap. AND it's not even more than just Drake. There is actually a fair amount of diversity and collaboration going on the charts as they become a fusion of many different things...even, at times, within one song.

I even considered changing my name to "Featuring" at one point. wink

I'm curious if anyone from PG Music will respond to the thread at this point. They may not even know what the thread is actually about...how to pickle yams. We seem to have lost the intent of the thread. Wait, is this whole foods? Where am I?

Yep, there's much more than just rap and filth.

Good music doesn't just come by once and die away. I ran across these two tunes today on YouTube today and the first song is a fairly recent release of a song first released in 1986. It seems each following generation has had someone release that generations style.

1998 Phil Collins released an updated 90's version.

2009 Adele did her 00's generation updated version.

2016 Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick did this generations version of Cindy Lauper's "True Colors" that has over 54 million views.
True Colors

That led to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. These songs, while modern and current, is nothing at all like the number one and number two listed earlier.
Perfect

Sorry from me. I left after my previous post to cut grass and returned, saw you had posted, but went straight to writing up my reply that posted just prior to yours. I'll be checking out the videos you posted in a bit. Stopping for Pizza at the moment.

Both of the songs have a somewhat timeless quality to them. It's cool to me that they could be a hit now or decades ago.

Bruno has admitted that he just redoing sounds from the past. I believe to the point he may have gotten a little TOO close wink

Great artists not doubt.

Yep. Great artists and great songs. That their recording budgets were hundreds of thousands of dollars didn't hurt either. I've found the same as beatmaster, there's some current music that is worth listening to.

Talk about derailing a thread......

If this was facebook, I'd go and delete all off topic posts.....

The thread is about hearing the music created by PG Staff and employees.... not hip hop music and the billboard top 2.

.....or....... the distraction of the hijacked topic gave them the opportunity to simply set it out.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
