Lyrics

I lost at love many times before I met you
There were some dreams of a romance that never came true
I came to terms with myself and was happy alone
I had the house and the dog but it wasn't a home

Then I met you and thought you were really the one
In the beginning we laughed and had nothing but fun
My life was like a blank canvas, so boring and bland
You painted colors so vivid, and made my life grand

Now that you're gone I'm wishing that we'd never met
It's not easy remembering how to forget

Our life together was so grand it left my heart dazed
I lost the vision right after the honeymoon phase
I got a look at the way that you lived day to day
Soon after that I was wishing you'd just go away

Now that you're gone it feels like I just lost a bet
It's not easy remembering how to forget

I'll get over you I ain't got over you yet
It's not easy remembering how to forget

It's always a pleasure to work for Eddie and I really enjoyed this one.

Sounds like a Jim Reeves song to me.

I suppose if your love life had been more successful, Eddie, we wouldn't have had so many songs.
In every cloud....

Cheers, ROG.

Heartbreak is never easy, but the silver lining is it inspires us to write songs like this smile Very sincere sounding, and a lot of emotion is behind this one. You can really tell. I'm agreeing with Rog above in that this definitely has a Jim Reeves quality to it. It's got a great groove too. I really like the slow, gentle pulse to this tune.

Thanks for sharing smile

This song was pretty relatable. I think anyone who has struggled with romance will resonate with this particular song. Pretty deep and pretty sounding. Thanks for sharing.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

A real classic Country sound to this.

A good mix. I like your vocal on this - a good "Willie Nelson type" thing that works well - though I thought it could use more reverb (it's a bit dry).

One of your best writes, a number of solid lines...but the timeline of the story makes one question it, I think. The fact that you were "over it" as soon as the honeymoon was over and you were living together day-to-day... doesn't seem like it would be someone that would be that hard to forget. But..I like the hook.

Thanks to all who offered feedback!

Now on to the next one. I believe the next one is a tongue deeply in cheek song about having been married three....four....no wait, it's three, times.

A country weeper AND a waltz. Two good things in our book.

And a time weary hearteft vocal to ice it.

Nice.

Hey Eddie & ROG,

I grew up playing music like this and made some pretty danged good money doing it! I love a great country waltz and this fills the bill quite nicely. I get a Waylon feel as I listen. The Jim Reeves analogy rings true, too. I wonder how I managed to mention those two for the same song - music sure does cross a lot of unexpected lines sometimes. Nice!

Eddie, this is your best to date IMHO. A country waltz, a tear jerker, your best vocals ever, and some great lyrics.

This does sound like a Waylon song!

You must be an old cowboy outlaw.

I went line dancing last night. Well it was a roadside sobriety test, same thing.
