I just had a message that they are playing my Band-in-a-Box cover of Bob Marley's "Is this Love" on SAfm on Friday evening (SAfm is one of our premier radio stations) AND they want to do a live phone interview! They have said they will call me around 21:30 SA time which is 19:30 GMT and 14:30 USA central. I don't know what questions they will ask me but if they ask me anything about my production BIAB is sure to get a mention.

You can stream it on www.safm.co.za

Now I better make sure my website is looking decent.

Great news Joanne. They picked a wonderful cover. It's a top notch arrangement, mix and production. Your version of "Is this Love" is worthy and capable to be played on mainstream radio. The quality is there. Have fun with the interview.

This is great news but it does not surprise me that they want to interview you. I think your songs sound like they were recorded in a professional studio.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Several DJs want to telephone interview you but the time differences are difficult to schedule. Maybe Noel or Sid could sort that out.

I'm not at all surprised to see your musical journey taking root and blossoming out. You have worked hard and "paid your dues". You have earned the love of everyone who knows you and your wonderfully huge warm heart.

You go, girl!

LOL

Let's hope that fame and celebrity don't corrupt her. I think that she's too mature for that anyway.

She holds the distance record of anyone visiting me - probably 10,000+ miles!

Very cool. I saw this song on another site this morning and was going to email you.

Congrats.

Are you playing the uke or is it a BB track? Either way, this is a well recorded song.

Your Vox fits it perfectly

Joanne,

It is fascinating to hear you're musical growth and to follow your journey of changing music from a hobby to a profession.

Excellent news and well earned!

WOW! So.Cool.

I have to say, you always seem so happy when you are performing. You can tell you love what you do. To me, that makes ALL of the difference.

Anyway, best of luck with where this all goes for you. You are ready, so it will be a blast to watch this unfold for you.

smile

Dave, Charlie, Bob, Mario, Kevin (where you been Emmrich), Don, Bob (Notes), John, Steve, Noel, Herb, Peter, Jim, Caaron and Hugh.

Thanks so much. I appreciate the support.

It really was very unexpected. I think that Cover in the Week must be approaching the radio stations because the DJ who contacted me said this was his third week of presenting a Cover in a Week song and he said that "since I was a local he wanted to do a phone interview". There does seem to be a South African connection, though, with the Cover in a Week record label "Split Sounds".

They have just sent a sneak peak preview email with their next challenge and I would love to see some other BIAB folks joining in. I think it is a song that we can try and get some "modern sounding covers" made. I will post details in a separate thread.

Herb, no that was BIAB actually playing the uke on the recording (and the guitar for that matter). Those PG musicians play much better than I can ever hope to.

If they would send her the questions, she could record her answers, send them the file, and they could edit the interviewer asking the questions into it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
