Hi, I'm trying to add about 30 seconds of silence between songs so I can press pause on my Ipod before the next song. Here's what I do: -Make sure the tracks are not frozen. -Add X number of measures to the end of the song (depending on the tempo) for about 30 seconds of silence. -Select the bar where I want the silence to start. -Go to Bar Settings and press mute for all instruments at that bar. -Save the changes -Freeze all the tracks. -Press on the Wav. Icon and render the tracks.
On about 75% of my songs this process works perfectly. On the other 25% the songs end without any silence, even though there's silence when I play the BIAB file (not the WAV file).
Does anyone have any ideas about fixing this or a better way to add silent measures?
Thanks, Mike

I use a different player, but I long ago recorded several files of silence of varying lengths, to put in my playlist. For example, if I am playing along to a recorded .WAV file, I hope I will get some applause afterward and I want to acknowledge that before my player goes into the next song, or I have to lean over to find it and press Stop. A 60-seconds of silence file will do it. I call them 10.wav 30.wav 60.wav etc.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the quick reply. Do you record a separate Wav file in BIAB or in your DAW, or what, exactly? I'm curious as to how you add this separate file to your song. I'm trying to do that within every song (which is working only 75% of the time). I'd like to try your method if I could get some more details.
Thanks again, Mike

Hi Everyone, I think I solved the issue by simply recording a 15 second recording of silence in my DAW. The first time I did this I didn't record anything and the recording had some buzzing. I re-did the recording with some vocal noise then went back and used automation to zero out the vocal stuff and voila--pure silence.
Next I exported the files into a Wav format, copied the files and pasted them into my iTunes folder. I placed the silence file between each song in my playlist and loaded the playlist into my IPod. I now have a delay between each song.
For those of you who do not have recording software, you can buy a silence recording in iTunes for a few bucks.
Cheers! Mike

Seriously, somebody sells that?
I just use Adobe Audition. It has a command called Generate Silence and you fill in the length.

Cheers! Mike Mike, I've created a compressed folder containing nine mono, wave files of silence. The wave files are of various lengths ranging from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. The folder is available +++ HERE +++. Please enjoy and share the link with anyone that can use it. I will also post the link in the Tips and Tricks section of the forum.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
