Hi Don, I went to your website and listened to all of your songs.
I particularly liked the Dance as I thought of you whilst it was playing.
I pray that you will sing again.

Merry Christmas from Myself.

Best regards
Michee

Still listening, I am on Two Pina Coladas as I type (not drinking them, just listening) and I must applaud your arrangements Don. I pray that you are back up to that mic before you know it.

Later,

Hi Don

I loved the nod to Gord Lightfoot. Learning Steel Rail Blues actually taught me to finger pick, that and Paul Simon's Dangling Conversation. Vocals are just fine.

Can't imagine how tough your situation is on you. Admire your courage.

thank you so much for the encouragement, guys. you have made my day.

danny and pgfantastic: i don't ever expect to sing again. my immediate concern is maintaining my weight. since my swallowing mechanism no longer works i have lost over 100 pounds (48kg). i can't afford to lose more.

ian: lightfoot's steel rail blues was my signature tune and i did it at least a thousand times at gigs. i would love to hear you finger pick it for me, please.
i checked your site but didn't find it.

Hi Don - do you have a recorded version of Steel Rail Blues by Lightfoot. I've done a lot of folk covers in my time but never managed to capture Steel Rail on tape PLUS I could never hit the falsetto (never had a falsetto) like you do. My Lightfoot signature tune was Canadian Railroad Trilogy - always used it to end a set - people would stick around for the next set. I use my web page just for original stuff right now. If memory serves Steel Rail Blues came out on Lightfoot's first album 65/66.

Hi Don. I hate you've lost your voice. But don't accept that you'll never sing again. Desire, backed by determination, will overcome many problems in life.

I liked your songs. I'm a big time Lightfoot fan. Your version of The Dance is excellent. The man himself didn't do any better than you did. Good on ya Mate.

russ,
i've been through speech therapy with a speech/language pathologist but no help. i continued to go downhill. my velum, the flap that prevents aspiration of food, is paralyzed so i choke a lot. the next phase in my treatment is to implant a feeding tube through my abdomen but i am delaying that as long as possible.
thanks for your kind thoughts.

Count me in as fan. Even if you are mute now, you can take comfort in the fact that you have a lot of recordings of your singing, which is quite good.

I'm glad to see that through all your struggles, you still have a positive attitude here on this forum. That probably helps other people out!

Listening to Steel Rail Blues right now.

thanks kevin,
unfortunately my best stuff is on reel-to-reel tape that, if still good, i have no way to hear or transfer.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
