A Robot Took My Job

A robot took my job but I don’t care
Give my suit to Vinnies, grow my hair
Maybe I can find my old guitar
Even play a song or two down at the local bar
Always found it hard to play the part
Gave my time but never gave my heart
A robot took my job and he can have it
Feels like a second chance and I should grab it

A robot
A robot
A robot took my job

My first wife took my heart, and she broke it
Every word I should’ve swallowed, man, I spoke it
The second girl I married was a keeper
A shame about the way that I would treat her
She cried the day she told me I had thrown her love away
A robot took my job but that’s OK

A robot
A robot
A robot took my job

One door shuts, another one will open
I read that on my feed the other day
That algorithm reads me like a book
Shows me stuff that otherwise I might’ve overlooked
A robot took my job but that’s alright
I don’t think that he did it out of spite
It’s just that he was smarter and damn, that thing is quick
Never takes a lunch break and he never calls in sick

A robot
A robot
A robot took my job

Yes, a robot
A robot
A robot took my job

I saw the title and thought "This should be fun."

Yep, it was! laugh

Nice write, fun listen, good mix, well sung. Fine solo, too.

I enjoyed it, thanks!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Very catchy groove and funny story. The chorus is simple and catchy for sing-along. Excellent mix.

Yeah, what a fun song! Great groove, good vocal, fun lyrics.

Nice production; love the fx on the vocal leading into that very fine solo.

Peter & Leon,
"A robot took my job but that’s alright
I don’t think that he did it out of spite
It’s just that he was smarter and damn, that thing is quick
Never takes a lunch break and he never calls in sick"

Now that is funny!
Love the title, write, and all the good production stuff...sweet solo to close out.
You guys have a great way of putting smiles into a song.

Well, I certainly was not disappointed!

This has been a common worry for a lot of laborers with everything becoming automated. Technology is advancing so fast these days. When I think about the technology from when I was a kid and compare it to now ... it blows away!

What a fun song. Thanks for sharing!

This is a cool tune Peter. Love the groove to the song. So much fun. Guitar was just wailing. Well done

Hello, Peter & Leon

Yes, fun and funny!
Guitar solo also has a comical mood.
You guys are a really good combination.
I felt more funny than satire first.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Nice work on this one - I got a good chuckle from this one smile Sometimes a fun, light-hearted tune is just what you need. All else aside, the groove is awesome and your vocal performance is right on the money.

Great job and thanks for sharing!

Hi Peter & Leon.

This is just SO much fun that it's easy to overlook exactly how well it's
put together. The overwhelming impression is one of humour and good-time
music, but delving deeper into it there's a lot going on.

So firstly, yes I really enjoyed this one. Secondly, I'm well impressed
by the sheer professionalism of the writing, performances, production and mix.

Excellent.

ROG.

hahahaha...yep, those algorithms are getting scary.

Whimsy done in style!

And, man, do we ever love a rockabilly band.

Great write and vocals and hey, Peter, are there any styles that you DON'T excel in on guitar?

And capping it all off is a fine production!

One to enjoy over and over....

Really creative idea, well executed. Fun and enjoyable...made me listen throughout to catch all the lyric “jokes”.

Noticed that you trimmed a few words out of the written lyric on the first verse...not sure if that represents an edit you made in the vocal recording, but the fewer words work better. Could do the same in a couple of other spot to make it flow a bit more smoothly in wordy passages.

What’s the reference to Vinnie’s..didn’t get that one.

I was waiting for some kind of robotic sound reference...got it just before the solo!!

Thanks for making me laugh!!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
