As I think I have mentioned, Floyd and I have the same old Yamaha acoustic. Mine is a 1972 and fitted with an old school Dean Markley soundhole pickup. This went direct into the board with no effects. There is a picture of it on the soundcloud file.

Brent Mason is on the left, and I am on the right. No effects on any of the acoustics. Totally old school--and wood.

I’ll Take Heaven Here

By David Snyder

V1

If God would listen to me
‘bout what I want to do
I’m afraid I’d have to tell him
The honest Gospel truth
I’d be right bored in heaven
With just that chosen few
So if he wouldn’t mind
He could leave us both behind
‘Cause I swear all I really want to do
Is stay right here with you

CH

Yeah if I could have
Every dream come true
I’d trade it all right now
Just to stay right here with you
If God would listen to me
I’d tell the Gospel truth
I’ll take heaven here
And another billion years
with you

V2

If the jury were to ask me
Where I feel at home
I couldn’t tell a lie
‘cause I’d be under oath
I’d be right bored in heaven
With nothing much to do
I’d rather have these moonlit pines
and a midnight ocean view
Cause all I really want to do
Is live forever here with you

CH

Yeah if I could have
Every dream come true
I’d trade it all right now
Just to stay right here with you
If God would listen to me
I’d tell the Gospel truth
I’ll take heaven here
And another billion years
with you

Bridge

If I have been mistaken
Or I have not been clear
I will say it all again
And I will sing it all right here

CH

Yeah if I could have
Every dream come true
I’d trade it all right now
Just to stay right here with you
If God would listen to me
I’d tell the Gospel truth
I’ll take heaven here
And another billion years
with you

Excellent - great sentiment, effective arrangement, good vocal.

I like the way you sort of broke the fourth wall before the final chorus. Nice instrumental build into the chorus. This feels commercial, in that it keeps focused on the chorus, and pounds it in.

I'd say something about the vocal sounding a touch low in the mix, but then I remembered I tend to mix my vocals too hot, so... It's probably exactly where it needs to be. wink

I enjoyed listening - delicious cheese! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Another top notch song! Lyrics are great, they certainly resonate with me.

Nice production, the way you build into the chorus. Acoustics sound great and the vocal is sitting perfectly in the mix.

Keep that hand drawn note with the song ideas, it could be worth money someday! smile

Another nice "simple love song". You are on a roll!

Nice arrangement. The added acoustic is cool.

A really cool title, nicely written to... super melody on this.

Nice.

David,
Wonderful lyrics - and I agree this has a commercial feel.
I especially enjoyed the twin guitar opening, the added instrumentation slips into the background nicely.
Sweet!

Nice work Mr Snyder on the guitar and vocal.

The lyric is the star here for us. Simply wonderful sentiment. And for us...completely relatable.

Hello, David

Nice song!
Very strong vocal!
I think that you are addicted to this type chord progression recently.
I also love the progression " I - VI7 - IIm7 - V7 " very much.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Really nicely done, David smile This is a truly beautiful song, from the chord progressions to your vocals to the lyrics. The flow is immaculate, and it sounds sincere and heartfelt. Also, in my eyes you utilized the percussion perfectly here. It helps accentuate the mood when it needs to and I really didn't see that coming.

You should be proud of this one - thanks so much for sharing!

Hi David,

Another great track.

Loved the guitars working so well together and producing a beautiful acoustic
bed for the vocals. Everything working well in it's own space and a super mix.

Nicely done.

Thanks Dave! That means a lot buddy!

I fiddled with that vocal for a while. It could come up a hair, I guess, but there is a fine line...

Glad you liked the cheese!

David,

I'm really loving your "simple cheese". I mean, this is so wonderful. Your vocal is top shelf - but a wonderful lyric like this deserves an equally a passionate vocal. You delivered!

You've earned about every superlative a musical piece could garner. You outdid even your talented self.

Best to you.

ALan

That was pretty indeed. The guitars sounded very nice and one of your best vocals with a lovely sentimental lyric.
Excellent.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
