…look who’s lurking around here again… This is a song from last year that I never posted here, Usuing the “Southern Rock” band I was thinking of Tom Petty and the phrase that fit perfectly early on was “hasten down the wind” I knew that wasn’t my original idea but couldn’t remember who came up with it, a little research and I rediscovered a really cool song from Warren Zevon called “Hasten Down the Wind”. I always intended to re-record this to polish it and make it better, just never got around to it. I don’t have any new songs, haven’t written anything in over seven months…you’re welcome. Enjoy it, rip it, critic it, Thanks for the listens and comments, Kenny http://kennyleverett.bandcamp.com/track/all-there-isAll There Is © 2017 Kenny Leverett On an old dirt road From an Arkansas shack One day she started walking And she never looked back Well she didn't tell her Mama Didn't think that she'd be missed Just slipped on out the back door Didn't even blow a kiss Cause it's more of where you're going Than all of where you've been Gotta keep on moving forward And hasten down the wind Well she knows a lonely boy Who's angry at this world And she gets her life all tangled up with his And she's thinking to herself As they drive off thru the dust Maybe this is all there is She thinks maybe this is all there is She remembers as a girl Waking from dreaming in the night One day my life will all work out right Now she's thinking to herself Driving south thru the rain and mist Maybe this is all there is He left her standing by a Quik Stop In a run down Texas town Said he's going to California And he'd hate to drag her down She just crossed the street to a cafe Didn't even blow a kiss Started serving truckers coffee Thinking maybe this is all there is She says maybe this is all there is Bass 1418 Southern Rock Organ 689 B3 Pop Drums Southern Rock Open Hat Rhythm Guitar 666 Southern Rock EV085 Acoustic Guitar 663 Southern Rock EV085 Solo Guitar 2636 Country Blues Rock

HEY!
So good to hear from you. Hope all has been well in your absence. And your absence hasn't gone unnoticed. Love hearing that gritty voice again - smiling from ear to ear, my friend. Welcome back!
Great song and delivery - doesn't need any polishing. Sounds almost like a live performance. Lyric and guitar are spot on. This might be "raw" but it's a perfect fit for the song.
Liked this couplet in particular:
Just slipped on out the back door Didn't even blow a kiss
Man, that paints, such a vivid picture and says so much in so few words. Also love how you ended on the IV chord.
This was an unexpected but very welcome treat. Totally loved it! Again, welcome back.
Alan

Hi there Kenny!
Good to see you back and what a track to signal your arrival back on the scene.
And whoa yes, this is classic Petty and the Heartbreakers from the opening chord. I've been a Tom Petty fan since he kicked off in the mid 70s and this is like the song which he never got round to writing.
A fabulous track, classic vocals, superb guitars, a super-hot mix.
What's not to like.
Hope you get back to writing again soon - we need more of this.
ROG.

Kenny, There`s no mistaking that gravelly voice! Welcome back - this has all the hallmarks of your best work - a strong, emotional lyric, driving beat and a live sounding mix ( fanatastic guitar solo!). Superior American rock. Stick around now, ok?

"She remembers as a girl Waking from dreaming in the night One day my life will all work out right Now she's thinking to herself Driving south thru the rain and mist Maybe this is all there is "
There is so much goodness in that entire lyric....
Great to see you here. Oh yeah, man, been missing that rootsy/country/rockAmericana vibe and voice and guitar.
Re-record? Polish? Hell no, leave it like it is!
Don't waste a signature sound...more!! Soon!!
As always the mix is pro level on the monitors.
Well done!

Excellent write, well sung, good arrangement, clear mix. It's got that "classic rock" sound. Great stuff. Now I've got to go have a listen to some Zevon.

Really cool. Good narrative, good arrangement and a hurt vocal delivery meet to make a really good song. There are some splosive/essing issues that may be related to the reverb but I'm hyper sensitive to those things and most folk don't notice them so ignore my obs easily enough. Good stuff, good song great package.
