How do I turn off the count in? I know I figured it out before, but now that I've reset to factory settings, it's back and I can't seem to turn it off. I have tried turning off everything in the Metronome window, to no avail.
Thanks for the response - that's what I was trying to say.
I found the metronome settings, have clicked and unclicked everything, but still get a silent count in for the song. Basically it's a four count silence that is there when I render the track to .wav.
Hi JIM I have found that you play with the count in and lead in at you peril . Caused me all sorts of problems when converting and rendering tracks to audio. Getting the tracks line up with the start of the song, when re importing.
However as I normally have either an auto generated or custom intro of a few bars to my songs I do find it useful to un tick the box to play count in even if intro is present. But not until I have finished working on the song, until then everything in that area stays at its defaults. Mike
Here's the kicker. Before I restored my build back to factory settings, I actually DID have it set so that the rendered .wav file didn't start with a click track count, or silent count, but started right with the first note of the project.
So I've gone over it, back and forth trying it figure out where it is located. I tried every setting in the Metronome screen, and nothing works.
Before I found it the first time 2+ years ago, I would have to take each track into Audacity and cut off the front count in.
But you CAN remove the count in, whether it's audible or not so the wav file starts immediately. I just can't find it again and was hoping that someone here may remember how.
Settings for rendering can be found under "Audio | Export Song As Audio File..." (see the image below).
If you are wanting to render a completed BIAB song without a lead-in or a delay start, try deactivating the boxes I've numbered '3' on the image and set the "Delay at start" (#4) to zero.
NOTE: When you get things operating as you want, make sure that you save your configuration settings using "Options | Save preferences as....". Doing this will allow you to get your settings back easily if you reset again at some future time.
Noel - you are a genius - I'm pretty sure that's where I turned them off before. I'll try it when I get back into my studio tonight, but your solution and screen shots seem very familiar!!!
Thanks again - I'll let you know later tonight if it works...
Incidentally - watched your videos on Vimeo. Did you shoot the footage yourself? Just asking because that's also something that I do is shoot stills and video.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
