Hello, forum friends Our forum member, Tom Sperrazzo (Forum Name : Tano Music) gave me wonderful English lyrics on my song “君と踊る時 (Translation: When I dance with you)”. He also recorded it with his wonderful vocal and sent me the vocal track. I tried the mix down immediately with the accompaniment and completed it as English version today. Any comments encouraged. Always welcome. Best regards. We are the two, The two hearts seeking a sign; The moon is calling on our stars to align. Just dance, don't speak! Close, cheek to cheek, With your hands, tight, on my shoulders As the whole world slips away. Each time we dance, Embraced in passionate romance, Who cares that others may glance To see our love; Let's Stay till the dawn Remain in the song, We've not a care in the world. So, this is our song, The one we heard on that night The night our hearts pledged that this dance will never end; And just as we've planned, Keep taking my hand Let's keep dancing cheek to cheek like that first evening When the stars were aligned From that first moment that you danced with me.

Very nice indeed. Lovely arrangement (still love those strings) and a very nice era evoking vocal all wrapped in a pretty tune. Excellent all round.

It's a good lyric for the tone of the music . The vocal is a little forward and there's some essing and harshness on the usual sounds that could be addressed easily enough. Personally I'd be tempted to treat the vocal with something to give it an "old timey" sound. It's a bit present and has a little proximity bass. In terms of the vocal delivery there are a few spots where the melody/flow seems forced and there's the odd warble that could be tidied up with an autotune style VST. COOL stuff regardless of my nit picking.

Wow - this was a fantastic listen Your chemistry here is very notable. It isn't a collaboration I had thought of, but I'm glad it happened! Tom/Tano's vocals here fit with the tune perfectly. You two should be very proud of this one - thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Deryk

Deryk and others...the collaboration objective was to add English lyrics to Shigeki's composition. From Shigeki's translation of the sense of his Japanese lyrics, I wrote an English lyric, trying to stay as close as possible to his story, but using English rhyme schemes, syllable emphasis, etc. to allow it to stand on its own in English. Glad you liked it!

Hello Shigeki & Tom, What an excellent collaboration! I really enjoyed the overall tone of this. The different elements really glue well together and the chord progression is very nice. Those strings are very relaxing to listen to. Great vocals on both versions. Thanks for sharing!

The lyrics, vocal, and arrangement were outstanding. This reminded me of the Perry Como, Dino, and Old Blue Eyes era. Extremely well done!

Very cool collaboration! You are both well versed in the style and it shows. For me this is the best vocal I have heard by Tom and well, I`m a sucker for Shigeki`s strings( love the brief instrumental break). Most enjoyable music.

We love music that harkens to the late 50's early 60's crooner era. Particularly Dean and Frank and Sammy. This would fit right in with a playlist from the period.
Vocals, strings, lyric, production...all is very well done and CLASSY!
Enjoyed it very much.

Hello, rayc
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment. I am really glad you like this English version. And many thanks for your precious suggestion to the mixing. I usually use the built-in effector of Cubase Pro "VariAudio" for the pitch correction. I used it this time by manual mode instead of auto mode. You have good ears, there might have been some unnatural spots. I am always very encouraged by your kind words.
Best regards.

fj Exactly what I was thinking......from my perspective, Floyd always hears it right. Vocal is sweet!! Music is great!! AND, best of all, the lyric really matches the classic era that the song fits so well. A WONDERFUL collab!! Take care. Greg

Hi Shigeki Adachi,
Wow!!!! and wow!!!! again. You and Tom have outdone yourselves. This is truly a wonderful listen. It's EXACTLY the kind of music that captures my imagination and takes me back to a time when music and lyrics created some of the most enduring standards in popular music's history. This composition has ALL those qualities and they shine with musical and lyrical expertise.
As floyd said, "An excellent lyric! to fit an excellent score". I couldn't agree more.
This DEFINITELY deserves a third Wow!!!!
All the best, Noel

Dear Shigeki & Mr. Sperrazzo...
You two, talented musicians are keeping alive the somewhat submerged tradition of "BBB" -- big band ballads!
As usual, Shigeki, your arrangement and orchestration of "When I Dance with You" is so silky in its instrumental textures, and swings so elegantly that anyone would think you had studied under Basie, or Sammy Nestico.
Mr. Sperrazzo, your singing of your own inspired lyrics for Shigeki's luxurious melody is youthful-sounding, appealing, and so clearly vocalized that a listener would feel as though they were an audience of one.
Shigeki, whoever it is that sings the song in Japanese is quite emotive and expressive in his own way. Please communicate that to him, won't you? In fact, it would be great to watch both of them in a video taking turns singing verses alternately in Japanese and English. I think that would be a quite a crowd-pleaser.
This is classy, danceable big-band jazz music. Thanks for the memories, gentlemen!
Sincerely,
LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

And I am deeply moved to the maximum compliments to the orchestration. I thank Tom a lot for collaborating with me this time. Tom is a great lyricist and vocalist as good as you are. I know I'm coming late to the party but...
I just listened to this great arrangement and was very impressed!
I'd like to ask a few technical questions if I may Shigeki.
If I understand correctly all recording and mixing was done using BIAB/RealBand? Or were the vocals recorded using a different software?
Also, how much time in total (approximately) did it take you to come up with the recording and mix of the entire project?

Hello BIABman,
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment. I am really glad you like this tune. And many thanks for your interest in the process of making this song. I would like to explain briefly.
I'm using Cubase as my DAW. First, I typed all the chord progressions including the intro and ending into BAIB and chose the style. This time I use _TREPID1.STY (Trepid Simple Symph Jazz Ballad). And then I export all tracks individually in WAV and load them into Cubase. Composing string parts, and programing them by MIDI, and I played them in VST instruments which are EastWest Symphonic Orchestra. After mix down, I completed the sound source of all parts except vocals. I sent the WAV file of it to Tom(Tano Music) over the net. He recorded a vocal track listening to it, and he sent the WAV file of the vocal track back to me. After that, I added the vocal track to the above Cubase file, and mixed them again, and I completed this song. I think it took about one week to complete the entire process, including arrangements and online exchanges.
I thank Tom a lot for collaborating with me. I am very encouraged by your kind words.
Best regards.
Shigeki Adachi

I also want to thank my forum friends for their kind feedback. It was fun to work with Shigeki and he was very helpful and supportive in my project to add English lyrics to his fine composition—and he used his technical skills to make my vocal recording sound quite professional!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
