Hello everyone, here is a song of a French singer "Jean Ferrat" 1930-2010, the text is from Louis Aragon, French poet, it is not perfect, be indulgent, thank you very much

Nice work on this one smile Really liked the progressions, and thought the vocals really complimented the backing tracks well. It has a subtle "dark" tinge to it as well I enjoyed.

Thanks for sharing!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Lovely song but the vocal sounds, in my headphones, as if it's been spread like peanut butter across the stereo image.
I assume that is eitehr my bad hearing or there's some sort of treatment on the vocal. Then again it could be double tracked and panned that way...

ans Anglais..

What would I be without you who came to meet me?
What would I be but a soul1 in the woods, sleeping
For just this hour held frozen on the face of the watch?
What would I be without you but these few stammered words?

I learned everything about human nature from you,
And from that moment on, I saw the world as you do.
I learned everything from you, the same way we drink from fountains,
The same way we read the distant stars in the sky,
The same way, after someone passes by singing, we continue his song.
I learned everything from you, even how to shiver.

What would I be without you who came to meet me?
What would I be but a soul in the woods, sleeping
For just this hour held frozen on the face of the watch?
What would I be without you but these few stammered words?

I learned everything from you that applied to me,
That it's daytime at noon, that a sky can be blue,
That happiness is not an oil lamp in a bar.
You took my hand in this modern hell,
Where man no longer knows what it means to be a couple.
You took my hand like a happy lover.

What would I be without you who came to meet me?
What would I be but a soul in the woods, sleeping
For just this hour held frozen on the face of the watch?
What would I be without you but these few stammered words?

Someone talking about happiness often has sad eyes.
Isn't that a sob of disappointment,
A string snapped under the fingers of a guitarist?
Nevertheless, I tell you happiness exists
Not just in dreams, not just in the clouds.
Earth, Earth, here is its undiscovered safe harbour.

What would I be without you who came to meet me?
What would I be but a soul in the woods, sleeping
For just this hour held frozen on the face of the watch?
What would I be without you but these few stammered words?

It's a really nice take on Ferrat's song based on the poem... Jean Ferrat's original

Dear Mr. Bernard...

In the song, "Que Serais-Je Sans Toi?", Louis Aragon describes his experience of loving someone in a rush of intense and imaginative poetry. It's filled with imagery that's nearly photographic, as though he were recalling everything that had ever happened between himself and his lover. I think it would be a challenge for any vocalist to sing such personal and densely remembered lyrics.

Nonetheless, I think the way you interpreted what was in his heart was admirable. Vocally speaking, it's as though you stepped back just a little from those terribly vivid words and allowed the strong feeling in them to speak for itself.

Also, the guitar score was simply ravishing! Bitter, and then sweet, cloudy, then clear, it matches musically the great emotion of the lyrics. I'm so glad that I took the time to listen it, again, and again!

Sincerely,

LOREN

That was so nice even though I could not understand a word, but you got me listening to the end.

Ray ??.

Was that you converting the song to English , so nice to see you putting your acute observations to another good use.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
