Melda Production have released a free convolution reverb. https://www.meldaproduction.com/MConvolutionEZ

I installed this and did a quick setup on an acoustic Realtrack. Used a amp cabinet setting and got a beautiful instant lift. It looks simpler and more effective than other similar reverbs that I have used.

If you don’t have Melda’s free plugin pack there are a number of really good high quality plugins there.

Wow! Thanks. I'll certainly be trying this out on upcoming projects.

Teunis, are you using this? I think it's very decent. Especially for free. But, I think it hogged 4 GB of my hard drive space. Did you notice anything like that?
I am not able to find where the ".flac" files are saved. Assuming it's the .flac files (impulse content files) that are taking up space I'd like to be able to remove a whole bunch of the ones I'll likely never use. Do yo know how to find them or how to remove individual impulses from it's content and get them into the recycle bin? I thought I'd ask here before starting a thread for tech help.
The other thing I'd like to do, if possible, is use them inside of ReaVerb where they can be manipulated quite easily.

To be honest I have not even considered space. I have a heap of room both in disk and memory. I still have some 200+Gig on my C drive and I store most sound files elsewhere. Like every good technician I never look at the things I should do. I simply tell others to be mindful. Right now I’m half snoozing with a gentle warm breeze blowing through my unit. I will however soon stir enough and I’ll have a look. It will do me good to check.

Ok, having a quick look it seems all the IR files are under. Program Data\MeldaProduction\MeldaProduction IR. But this directory is only some 82.5 MBytes in size. The flac files are quite small. All the MeldaProduction folder is only 290 MBytes.

What did you install with Melda just the Reverb? The free pack or complete trial? I have the free package (that I paid for to get shy of the ad notice and allow a little extra functionality).

As I say in truth I never looked at room or ram. It is possible to delete IRs (oops I initially said IRS. American folk do not want any IRS deleted it now says correctly IRs) in the Reverb but I Doubt you’d gain much.

I have played a little with the reverb I think it is fine but one has to be careful not to let volumes get away. Using the Wet/Dry settings it is easier to control.

Looks like the iPad makes it IRS not IRs as I want. ;-)

Sorry did not pick up the line about ReaVerb. You could I guess point ReaVerb to the MeldaProduction IRs and also visa versa you could quite easily tell the MeldaProductions MConvolution reverb (from the main directory page ) where the Reaper IRs are stored.

I tried ReaVerb with the Melda IRs it works a treat.

Sorry I can’t help more.

Tony

That's a great help actually. Because of the info you offered I also found IRs for MDrumEnhancements and those work in ReaVerb also.
Thanks.

I think my computer has a delay on how/when it recalculates my hard drive space. It's possible a project I was working on coincidentally got it's GB registered just after installing MConvolutionEZ.

Have you watched Kenny Gioia's video on using ReaVerb? It has a lot of really good features. I find it much more functional than MConvo but does not come with IRs. So, I'll be using these in ReaVerb.

BTW, many of us have considered deleting the IRS.

See https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=130497 I downloaded a heap from Reaper somewhere this points to a similar download. I understand Voxengo also have a download of impulse response files.

You can end up with 100s of them only to use the few you like and can handle.

Found it again https://stash.reaper.fm/v/32542/Kenny%27s%20IR%20Reverbs.zip

Just a thought

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
